Spotty Quality Control Issues
« on: June 18, 2006, 08:29:56 AM »
Reports of spotty quality control with the CP-01 are floating around the canadiangunutz forum.  MOst complaints revolve around the finish, sight allignment and trigger pull. I am considering buying one and would be interested to learn if it is hit and miss with this gun.  Option is to go for a 75B with docker.  My CZ 85 pre-B has been flawless.

Sight alignment and trigger have been questioned in recent years.  If the gun doesn't shoot to point of aim, adjust the bleeped sights.

Trigger problems seem to be a function of the "new" trigger design (which means a change in the sear/hammer interface).   Use seems to fix most of these problems.

That said, I've handled some "new" CZs in the past year or two that had nice triggers, but I've not seen or handled an SP-01.

Finish issues?  Haven't heard about them.  May be something new.

the five or six SP01s that have come through the shooters in our area...all have been perfect in the finish..evenly applied and nice to look at..

the triggers have been normal factory triggers..on the heavy side and some creep..same as every other brand I have seen..and sights were all close with factory ammo..

Handled two examples and own a third.  Finish was even on all three.  Sights were okay and trigger was like ever other factory trigger, not that hot when compared to a weapon that has a 150 dollar trigger job performed by an artist.

The SP01 is a great platform.

I shot nearly all the available double stack modern 9x19 pistols that would fit into USPSA production class and the CZ won hands down.

The local gunshop has sold about a half-dozen SP-01's during the last few months. I looked each of them over carefully. The finish on all of them was excellent. Everyone who handled these guns was impressed by them, and they sold rather quickly. One customer bought one he liked so much he bought another!

I just bought two SP-01's from Angus and the finish on both is excellent.  In fact I would say the overall fit and finish on both is excellent and I look forward to buying two Tactical Sport's in the very near future.

I own two SP01's and a P01. The finish on all three are perfectly fine and the triggers are a little on the heavy side (as eerw said) with some creep. A trigger job takes all that away and they're perfectly fine afterward. I dont see any problems or issues yet and they're probably the best value for the money.

Hi

Both my 75SP01 and 75BD shoot to point of aim with factory ammo. Finish on them is equally fine. Brand new the triggers are both in the needs work category. Neither trigger was better / worse out of the box. For all the gory details on my SP01 trigger theres a thread a bit below this one.

I'll add that I can't confirm "spotty QC" with the one I received, either.  Trigger is a CZ trigger, but accuracy out of the box was top notch.  No finish issues at all.

Excellent!  My next purchase.

House is in mourning.  Oilers lose 3 -1  to Carolina!

Good on the fans in Raleigh to sing O' Canada to honour our country in response to Edmonton fans singing the Star Spangled Banner.  Hockey fans are the greatest.  Great series, good on Caolina.

I have a 3 month old SP01.  Finish seems perfect.  The trigger is much better than my 75B, but could be better.

I have never owned a gun that had a great factory trigger (except for maybe my S&W Model 41).  I look for fit and finish, and the SP-01's are great for that, and then worry about the triggers later.  It's to the point where I order my trigger parts before I even get the gun!  The ones I can't do myself I turn over to a competent gunsmith.

Hi

I bought my SP01 in august 05. Trigger was rough NIB but after a few 1000rds + a triggerjob it was fine, nothing for a future CZ-customer to worry about and really nothing to turn down a purchase for(!)

Sight allignment is good. With S&B 115gr its dead on @ 25m, and with S&B 124gr its  inch lower.

Fit is 100%, Ive shot 49p @ 25meters (onehanded without any support). The finish is 98%, it does have some "spots" in the finish on the dustcover. BUT I DONT CARE! Ive never owned such a reliable pistol before. I sold the King of pistols to get this one, Sig P210. Actually I had two P210, one 9mm and one .30Luger.

My SP01 is as accurate as / or more accurate then the Sigs, it fits my hand better and it holds 11 more rds per magazine. The Sigs had better triggers, thats all. And the CZ is waaaay more reliable than the Sigs! -With new springs, extractor and a reliable magazine the 9mm Sig never ran longer then 300-400rds before a malfunction. My CZ have 5500rds thru it and zero gun-related malfunctions.

My CZ gets 10 out of 10.

I am regular on CanadianGunNutz too.  8)

I picked up my SP-01 this spring and I am quite pleased with it.  To be fair it was my first pistol purchase so I haven't alot of experience.

The trigger does get better with use.(I plan on getting mine done eventually)

The accuracy with mine is pretty close to bang on a 25 yards.

I have had only 1 FTE in almost 1000 rounds.(using re-manufactured ammo)

The finish on mine is great.  No flaws or blemishes of any kind.  The only thing...there are some "tooling" marks on the underside of the slide rail.  Not much of an issue because they are invisible when gun is assembled.

GREAT gun for the price...

Finish seems normal

the triggers really do suck.

Great gun.

Good thing I have the power custom jig for it.
