CZ82 is a Sweet Shooter
« on: December 18, 2014, 05:14:32 PM »
I have been unable to go shooting for about two months while recovering from surgery.  Today I went to the range in a light snow with my buddy and had a blast with four of my favorite handguns:  a .40 S&W Glock 23, a .38 special S&W Model 10, a .44 magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk single action, and a CZ82.  I chose those four because I was afraid of being rusty and wanted handguns which I could count on shooting reasonably well, and none of them disappointed.

I was happy shooting paper at 25 to 50 feet and steel plates at 25 to 50 yards.  Attached is my final target for the day on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper:  eight rounds of 9x18mm Makarov Brown Bear FMJ from right at eight yards. The CZ82 is one sweet shooter.  Finishing up the range visit like that made for an enjoyable ride home.

Nice shooting! Thank you for the post and picture. Glad you had a good range trip with the CZ82. I look forward to trying a CZ82 out one day.

Good shooting. My old eyes and shaky hands won't allow for great groups anymore, even though I know my -82 is capable of them.

That has been typical with both my CZ82 even with cast bullets. My cast are lube ring and moly lubed hard cast RN. no leading at all

I just got a CZ83 in 380 and it's a powder puff to shoot! I'm very pleased how accurate it is too, especially with my aging eyes. I'm going to repaint the dots with whiter white and may 'drill' the front a bit bigger first but I'm so impressed with this 83 I'm already looking at 82s, figuring I've already got reloading supplies for it (9mm) pretty much.

Does one ever stop considering their 'next CZ'?

...

You have me a bit worried here (not about wanting another CZ, of course).  You do know that 9x19mm Luger and 9x18mm Makarov ammunition are two different sizes, right?  The primers and powder may well work in both, but the 9mm Makarov bullets are significantly larger in diameter and the cases are one MM shorter than 'regular' 9x19mm.  The longer cases can be manually trimmed in length and expanded in diameter to work with the fatter bullet, but the correct set of Makarov reloading dies is also required.

Thought maybe just the expander and a lighter stroke of a 9mm luger taper crimp would do it. Maybe I don't want another set of dies just yet. Don't have a thousand rounds on the set I just bought for 380.
