cz75 finish question
« on: December 19, 2014, 01:03:40 AM »
Are cz75s blued on the inside?  I just picked mine up  and it doesn't appear to have any finish on the inside... The dust cover area on the inside of the frame is light gray, and the inside of the side has an almost rusty color to it.  Did I get a defective finish?

Nope it's fine. Most (if not all) look like that. Doesn't affect anything really.

Indeed. As far as i understand what you are seeing is the parkerizing (corrosion resistant electrochemical phosphate conversion coating).
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Right on, I won't fret about it if it's normal.  I field stripped it, got er all cleaned up, heated everything and applied some FrogLube paste... After wiping it off the color is a bit more uniform (less reddish inside the slide).  This trigger is going to take some getting used to, I can't seem to dry fire it without the front sight moving in DA mode.  Perhaps a call to CGW is in order, but I'm going to shoot at least a few hundred rounds first to see what I really want to improve, if anything.

I gotta say, this is the prettiest gun I own now.  I used to think they were plain and the skinny slide was odd looking, but it's really grown on me over the years.  I'm surprised it took me this long to get one, especially considering all the raving lunatics who insist they're the greatest thing since JMB.

I'm assuming that have one with a manual safety.  Unless you're planning on thumbing down the hammer can carrying with the safety off, you won't be shooting it in DA mode anyway.  Practice the SA pull and let us know how it works for you.

I had purchased a lightly used CZ 75B and it had been so thoroughly cleaned that there was very little lubrication left on anything. The trigger was not very impressive. After applying some LPX to the trigger and other internal parts, the trigger feels completely different. I really don't know anything about FrogLube or how it is applied.

Especially the trigger bar next to the frame, couple drops on the sear, and the slide rails. CZ's like to run wet.

It's the decocker model.  I'm used to my Sig so I thought it'd be wise to get a CZ with similar controls.  It's going to be a range gun, but if I practiced with a B model and got used to the safety I wouldn't want my brain to get mixed up if I ever had to use my Sig in self defense.

Since it's gonna be a range gun, it'll see mostly SA mode anyway, but I like to practice DA too because it's more challenging.

Thanks for the tip, I'll lube the internals a bit more and see if it smooths out with some dry fire practice.

Lubing the internals a bit really did help smooth out the DA pull, thanks!  I'm a tinkerer so I'll probably mess around with some upgrades from CGW, but it's much better already.  A few hundred dry fires (with o-ring in place) helped too.  Looking forward to my first range trip tomorrow!
