I got my first and new 9mm...CZ75 SP-01!
« on: June 13, 2006, 05:06:58 PM »
Hello everyone,

My first post here. I wanted to say that after much research I bought my first 9mm..the CZ75 SP-01...what a great gun!

I had narrowed my search to the Sig P226, CZ85 Combat and the CZ75..I actually bought the CZ without even firing it before.

I was very impressed with the way the gun fits my hand and the weight. A very solid piece. I actually shot at the range the same night I bought it...it shoots very well.

I need to shoot a lot more to get the hang of her. I'm shooting again after almost 30 years without touching a handgun so needless to say, I was somewhat out of touch with modern technology..

Everything seems very good in the CZ...the grip, the trigger etc. Can't comment more now but I will post more impressions from the range.

Nice choice, FedAgent. I'd like to add the SP-01 Tactical to my collection. :D

:lol Excellent choice fedagent, and welcome to the forum! You'll find great advice on this web site, and you'll find that you're among friends here. Keep us posted regarding your new prized possession. I love mine! A wise man once said that " only accurate firearms are worth talking about." (An old philosophy pearl I just happen to agree with.) There is no greater challenge than to possess a tack driving handgun that makes YOU live up to IT'S capability. Try several different types of ammo and feed it what it likes. When a man can't blame his gun for his scores...he'll always know where he stands in the equation. An inaccurate firearm is an exercise in futility and I'm sure (like so many of us) you'll find that you are now the proud owner of one of the most "out of the box" accurate handguns made. CZs also seem to be the best kept secret in the business, but don't tell CZ that or they'll raise their prices on us....just kidding!!!.....Enjoy my friend!

it's an amazing gun. I shot again at the range today (a quick 50 rounds) for a total of 100 and so far so good.

I have room for improvement because I need to get my groups much tighter but I'm in no rush..hehe

Question...how often do you clean your SP-01? weekly, after each range session, etc>?

Thanks to all.

I started out, being new to handguns in general, and an overall tech geek, cleaning each time I shot it, each time it got a fingerprint on it.... yeah, a bit excessive.

Now I clean it after every 250 rds or so or a day shooting with the local USPSA group here. Only things that seem to really need it are the mags, if I had to drop one in the sand, or the feed ramp.

Enjoy it, it's a great gun!

FedAgent, Go to the CZ Pistol FAQ page on this website. You  will not only find tons of information, but look for Walt Sherrill's post entitled "Cleaning - A Primer". In that post Walt will give you excellent advice on how to clean your CZ. Walt is an incredibly bright man and you can take his advice to the bank. 2)You didn't state what finish you had on your gun. Blue? Polycoat? If you have Polycoat be careful with regard to the cleaning agents you utilize as there are those which can harm your Polycoat finish . Polycoat is to guns what basecoat/clearcoat is to car paint. (a thin layer of clear coating.) Polycoat is a thin layer of clear over a parkerized finish. 3)Most gunsmiths will tell you that a very high percentage of barrels they see with damage are the direct result of improper barrel care and cleaning. Try to clean all firearm barrels from the breach to the muzzle and not vice versa. Be especially careful with the barrel's crown (the muzzle end of the barrel.) Guard it from damage at all costs while you own your handgun! Barrel crown damage will ruin the gun's accuracy. Good Day and Good Shooting!
