Here is a pic of it in progress:

The honeycombish part is structural element to support the actual model, the actual grip will be solid ABS. This can be seen on the lip part that is already starting to fill in.

For this particular model of printer, the cost of the materials is about $10. I am going to play around with the model and try different geometries. I would like to try to make one set with a thumbrest bump on it.

Aluminum and likely Brass too.

I've watched aircraft structural parts made with "large scale" CNC aluminum tooling.  It's amazing how fast they take shape as you watch.

You know... If you wanted to make slim plastic grips that covered that sharp corner on SP-01's, I would be down for a set in the white. Make em up a little for your time and effort.

ETA: My biggest gripe about VZ grips is that they don't go far enough up the frame. I have a VERY high grip on my gun and the top of the VZ grips bites into the fleshy patch on the palm of my index finger. If you made grips that went up high, like these grips, I would be very interested in a set of grips for the full size and compacts.

Well, I am not in the business in making grips, but give me a bit to fiddle and test the fit on my SP-01 and I will see what I can do. I don't foresee any issue extending the model up to the safety. The build took several hours, so I let it go overnight. I will report finished pics and fit soon.

Here are pics of the completed grips:

I have to say, these look pretty awesome. It even has a "wood-like" texture due to the resolution of the printer. This is hot off the press, so no post-processing has been done to these as far as fit/finish goes. I will update again after I fit them.

Here they are on my SP-01 Shadow Custom. The hole for the grip screws was about 1.5mm off-center, so I just dremeled a bit out and installed them. I may add a little extra material on the inside as well to support the newly placed screw hole. There are a few other areas that need a little polishing as well, but all-in-all, not a bad first pass. I will modify the model this week sometime and do another run. The are very solid, and I like the feel of the very slight palm-swell. Once I get them printed out to my satisfaction, I will print them in black and take some higher quality pics.

Edit: The small gaps on the lower grip in the backstrap photo is actually from the screw hole still being a bit off-center, causing the grip to sit a little to far forward. When re-printed, I expect it to sit flush like the top one, which I more carefully dremeled for the photo.
