My 3 showed up today, the slings are absolute garbage

The slings were absolute garbage on the first vz2008s I received months ago.  They looked like leather belts someone threw out -- worthless.   Why, did someone actually get decent canvas and leather slings with theirs?

How are the coatings on yours, are any triggers rubbing in the receiver, how are the crowns on the barrels, and any of the two QD pins (front and rear top covers) missing the retaining parts? ? ? ?  What do the mags look like?

The accessories with my three VZ's varied wildly.  Each rifle had a mix of brand new and heavily used.  If you need a new sling, Numrich has them for six bucks shipped.  Here's the thread:

I hope you receive a darn nice one - your Buds too.  Spend some time on these forum pages and you'll learn a lot.  If your familiar with the AKM - here is a comparison of the VZ and AK features and arts by M. Killebrew : http://vz59.blogspot.com/2015/02/an-illustrative-comparison-of-vz-58-and.html

Thanks for the link and....... Keep the barf alive!....(BTW, I recently stole that from the Slickguns purchase thread)

Also I don't see much recent info on the latest/greatest bayonet source and after searching around I see some for $15 with scabbard at J&G.
Anybody have better solution?

Or ebay or gunbroker.  That way you know what you're getting.

Overall, I'm happy. Other than these moldy slings

My magazines, mag pouch, sling, and bayonet all look unused
My bayonet scabbard is well used but fully functional
The only complaint I have about the rifles is the mgazines it a little loose, but that seems the be normal.
Granted I did pay $500 for mine from Aimsurplus and it is a 0014X serial number

Sorry citizen Pete
I wrote a whole response somehow it did not post

I got 2 rifles in the 12xxxx with closed sight hood and shielded mag release type trigger guard
And one 11xxxxx rifle with an open front sight hood and unshielded magazine release.

9 magazines= five brand new, Three very lightly used, one moderately worn
The finish is perfect on all three rifles, zero complaints.
The triggers are not rubbing the receiver.
All three of my slant brakes are indexed to 7oclock????? Weird
I can get two of them off and those crowns look perfect.
internals look great, one  has some brown staining on the bolt.

My only complaint is the magazine lock up is very loose on all three vz2008 rifles compared To my CSA D-technic
The magazines lock up perfect in the CSA rifle, but wiggle front to back and left to right in the century rifle.

Danke!

I'm gonna check that mag wiggle on mine, never noticed it, but haven't shot them much since the snow started flying here.

Good to hear the finish is good -- In my first order I got one rifle with a rough finish down the left side.  Same firearm had the trigger fit up issue (would not reset) and the bayo lug is fubar and will not accept a bayo.  I sent this back to Century for warranty work, and they returned it with the side of the trigger filed down and replaced it without painting it  ::) then they kept my old bayo which was great looking and returned a fubar bayo with the tip broken off, never fixing the lug.  At that point after 6 weeks of dealing with their sterile customer support (or lack thereof), I said screw it.

I also had a little brown finish on one of the bolts that I worked off clean with a little steel wool and a 3M scouring pad, followed by a thick coating of MC3000.

I hope the next three waiting for me at the FFL are tip top.

The slant on the brake might be set up to compensate for a right handed shooter? Just a guess.  I question why one will not come off - detent stuck in the sight block?

Thanks again for the report.  I'll post my results on these next three on Monday or Tuesday.

I had one I had to take a big set of pliers to and remove it that way.  Really needed a third hand to hold in the detent initially too -- basically, it was the same issue as the folding stock pin -- the teflon coating was holding/binding it together...

For those interested - ordered my 2nd VZ and my FFL received it on Thursday the 5th. Very clean rifle, uniform paint (blueing/parkerizing?) all over the place.

Sling is garbage, the 3 mags look brand new. Serial number at the 11xxx range. Nice clean furniture, open front sight. Didn't inspect the cleaning kit. Not sure how accurate it is but the box had a 7/2014 manufacture day for the new one.

Sling swivel is round shape - on my older VZ (07xxx series) in was a T shape.

Finally the trigger guard on the new 11xxx has the indentation for magazine release, the 07xxx did not have this.

As far as the looks go I love it - let's see how it shoots...

One more thing, the bipod will not go in all the way, so I may need to do a bit sanding. The bipod works perfect on my other VZ (thanks RSR) so I know the culprit is not the bipod itself...

Does the bayo fit on the lug?

I ordered Feb 4 and it shipped Feb 9. A lot faster than the weeks some people have had to endure.
