The finish on my Sar ST 10 was not put on right from the factory. It comes off very easily, unlike my Sar K2 45 and my wife's Sar B6P. It's very obvious that it is a defect. I called EAA and talked to Dawn, who listened to my description of what is happening and told me she would see if it's covered. She talked to Gus and he told her to tell me it would not be covered, that the finish is painted on and not covered. She insinuated that I had done something to it. I told her I merely put a light on the rail and all kinds of finish came off. I told her I did put the same light on the Sar K2 45 and the finish held up fine, as it should. The light has plastic clamps that fit it on the rail. I told her that when I took off the plastic zip tie that the Turks put on the guns to ship them, it had taken some of the finish off where it was riding on the slide. I am through with buying anything else that has a warranty from EAA. I have bought 6 handguns from them in the last year. Now I am going to call Buds, because I bought their lifetime warranty also, and see if they will do anything.
Looks like I'll have to add Buds to that list also. They were no help either, although at least they gave a point. Their warranty doesn't kick in until the year is up on EAA's warranty. But they tried to use the same logic that EAA did: they don't cover normal wear on finish. EAA wouldn't even look at it, now would Buds. The bright side is if I have to get it refinished myself, the old finish will be a breeze to strip down.
