1164 grams comes to just over 41oz, which is still too heavy for IDPA SSP.  All we need is to remove 3 oz and we are in.  I am pretty sure that with switching stock parts out we got it.

Replace rubber grips with factory walnut grips
Replace SP-01 slide stop with 75B slide stop
Replace SP-01 recoil spring with 75B recoil spring
Use 16rd CZ mag with flat basepad instead of SP-01 mag

That will get us very close if not under.

Small update.

Today, after a total of 1000rds thru the gun and 4000 dryfires, the trigger spring broke.

A local dealer replaced it for more or less free of charge.

Should I be thinking of bying some more trigger/extractor/recoil springs, will more springs break in a near future..?

This was my first hick-up with my new gun, and it was fixed easy and for a low cost.

If you dry fire a LOT make sure that the trigger return spring is well lubrcated, normal oil is good, I don't dry fire very much and have never broken a firing pin spring unless I was bending on it at the time :)

Matt Mink is the dry fire king not sure if he broke one but then I know he lubrcates cause I told him too.

Lubrication baby, all spring need it.

Point taken.

I think Im more or less done dry fireing, done a lot of it and it have made the trigger MUCH better. But if I do some more Ill put some CLP on the spring.

Thanx for the advice.

Nah, I haven't broken ONE, I've broken 4 now.  Pretty sure dryfiring contributed, but I actually don't do that much anymore cause I'm too busy.  A little bit of oil down there does help I think.

A possible other way to get to SSP weight (assuming its an IDPA only competition gun) would be to cut the portion of the slide the is below the guide rod.  On a 75/85 without the light rail this portion prevents crud from getting into the gun.  The full lenght light rail can do this as well.  The double coverage is a bit redundant and cutting the slide would give a bit of weight reduction.  The slide would go from stardard 75b to something more like a glock with just a bit of metal to retain the recoil guide rod.

Is this doable?

From the rulebook:

EXCLUDED Modifications (NON-Inclusive list):

4. Slide lightening (see slide, lightening in glossary for
further information).

from the glossary:

Slide, lightening: Removal of portions of the slide to gain a
competitive advantage.

It could be argued that we are not removing portions of the slide to gain a competitive advantage, we are doing it to get the gun to make weight.  I doubt they would listen however, so all of my ideas so far is to swap parts out to get the gun under the weight limit.

Sportshooter:

If you want the pictures to post, use the LINK beneath each picture on photobucket.  (There's three types shown.  Use the one with IMG.  Just past it into your message.  It'll show in the message.)

If you can get the SP-01 down to 43 ounces with an empty mag, you can shoot it in ESP...  (That's the ESP limit.)

As Matthew notes ANY cutting on the slide to lighten is not allowed in IDPA.
