Ok, so I took her apart, and tried to document everything I noticed and did. So, here is the above shot after removing the sear. Notice the right side is thinner. I find this interesting and am surprised this is due to misalignment. That is a lot of wear considering how smooth the trigger pull was. But, it is what it is now, so moving on...

Removal of the trigger bar and a few pics:

Left side of trigger bar pre-polish:

I polished with 1500 wet dry with WD-40. Very light pressure. I did it until it felt completely smooth in the direction of the movement of the trigger bar when in the frame. You can still see tooling marks, but it felt glassy smooth to the touch in the forward-backward directions.

I gave the other side a touch-up as well, and avoided the already-worn area. I figured if the alignment is off in the other direction, I might as well smooth out the larger portion of this side too (sorry for blurry pics, I didn't review them until afterwards).

While I was at it, I figured I might as well get in the grooves too:

I then worked on realigning the spring. This took a few trial and error adjustments, each time having to re-seat the trigger bar with downward pressure simulating the sear installed. The springs are actually in the grooves, touching the bar. They are barely touching, and only really exert a force on the bar when I pull the trigger. Here is how the springs sit now:

Here is a top view of the bar, before and after the spring alignment. Note the spacing between the trigger bar and frame between the pics. The first is essentially touching the frame on the left (opposite orientation from the above pic), whereas the second the spacing is more even:

So, there you go. I will keep an eye on this and post if anything goes awry, but I like the results.

Oh, I did trigger pull measurements afterwards to see if the additional pressure from the triggerbar spring made any difference. Average of 10 pulls in DA and SA.

DA 5lbs 10oz
SA 2lbs 7oz

My previous test came out as 5lbs 9oz and 2lbs 6oz. So essentially unchanged. The difference of 1oz is within the variation of my testing (+/-2oz)

One good thing about documenting this is that I have pics to compare to next time I break her down.  :)

Burly,

I'd recommend you make sure there is enough pressure exerted upward by the triggerbar spring.  Schmeky recommended 3-4 mm (with the slide off) of upward pressure here:

Thanks tdogg! It certainly has positive pressure now, whereas before it was essentially zero. I think it is in the 3-4mm range, but I will check. Good to have a number from someone like David instead of "feel".

Again, thanks for that link.
