P-09 and RMR
« on: February 27, 2015, 07:46:05 PM »
Spoke to Cajun gun works today and they are a no go to mill my P-09 slide.  Who can mill a P-09 slide for RMR.  I've looked all over but found nothing.

Do not want the dovetail mount, want it done legit.

Also need a right hand holster for the P-09 that will work in Molle Gear.

I've used a dovetail mount on a P-09 for a year with a Burris Fast Fire III.  Is the sight height too high for you?

The reason that CGW turned you down for the direct slide mount is that the slide material is simply nearly impossible to machine.  I don't think anyone can do it very easily, simply because of the machining difficulty.  I don't know if you can even tap the tiny holes for the sight screws, much less cut the top for the sight.

The Springer Precision and Slaughter Machine mounts both work great.  My preference is for the single piece Springer, however, that I currently have on my 97.

Here is what the P-09 looks like with the Slaughter Machine mount.  The Springer is a little shorter.

The OP found a post of mine and PM'd me about it, but I figure I should post here in case anyone else is interested:

Last summer I was curious about mounting a RMR direct to the P09 but I was unaware of anyone having done it. I handed my P09 slide and a RMR to my bolt gun smith (http://www.highspeedshootingsystems.com/) and told him to make it work. A few weeks later he handed it back to me...

That is awesome. What's the RMR on it? How is it holding up? Is it difficult to change out the battery?

It's the RM02. It's been holding up fine. I don't have a ton of rounds through it, just a few hundred so far. I've shot a couple of matches and carried it in bleepty weather while hunting. Swapping batteries is as easy as removing the screws and lifting the sight off the slide.

Craig, Thank You again for the quick response.  I've made contact and should be sending off first of next week.  Once I get it back it will be off to CGW!!

My only issue is finding a holster.  It has to work with Molle gear.  I'm using it in run and guns.

Can the P09/P07 slide be milled down deep enough to mount the sight and maintain the iron sights (the suppressor sights, being taller would be the trick) like they are doing with the Glock pistols?

I don't like Glocks, but I do like the idea of being able to use the iron sights if the electronic sight croaks.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

At this time it doesn't look like iron sights is an option.  That is my next question also

Two thought there... Either mill a line on the back of the RMR to use as a rear sight and align with a tall front sight, or mill a Glock type dovetail in front of the RMR and find an appropriately tall Glock suppressor rear sight to go there.
