Two thought there... Either mill a line on the back of the RMR to use as a rear sight and align with a tall front sight, or mill a Glock type dovetail in front of the RMR and find an appropriately tall Glock suppressor rear sight to go there.

Good ideas! I think a sight in front of the optic would work well. I saw an M&P like that before they came out with the CORE.

David Bowie of Bowie Tactical Concepts cuts his optics like that. Sight in front of the optic. I like the idea and concept. When I get my P09 I was thinking of getting a Leupold Deltapoint Pro when they're released. It accepts or can be purchased with a rear sight built in. the sight can be adjusted for elevation and windage and since it would sit above the slide no extra milling.

Those have been set to come out for a year or more now.

The Deltapoint 2 was scrapped in favor of the Deltapoint Pro.

*shrug*

It's up on Leupold's site now, with a MSRP and from what they said at Shot a Show is supposed to be available sometime in March. http://www.leupold.com/tactical/scopes/deltapoint-reflex-sights/deltapoint-pro/

Not sure if there's room for a dovetail infront of the optics. If you look at the pictures above, there's a pin hole right where I would put the slot on the slide.

The dovetail would have to be cut into that area. Since removing that pin is something you'd do only very rarely (and it requires a hammer and punch anyways) I don't think it would be a problem to drift the sight over to uncover the hole and then remove/reinstall that pin, then drift the sight back into place.

The guys using the red dot sights on the Glocks say they use the iron sights as an aid in acquiring the red dot.  They aren't taking time to line up the front/rear sights with the target, but using the front sight post as a way of locating that red dot faster.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

How would you do all that and not use a threaded model?

Here is at least two options.

1.  The factory tall sights from the P07 Duty Threaded.

2. The CZ Custom HTAC suppressor sights

I would think so. I have only limited experience with a pistol RMR that I tried once, but everyone I have talked to says there is a bit of a learning curve in acquiring the red dot.

I found it somewhat challenging to quickly find the dot, but I think this can be overcome with training. My aging eyes are giving me fits and this may be the only practical option...

Just takes some dryfire.
best is to keep both eyes open, bring sight into field of vision.
you are not trying to look through anything, just trying to get the muscle memory right for you hands to bring the pistol to the proper height for sight alignment. You have years of memory of the top of the gun being proper sight alignment. you now have to account for a different height.
takes many reps to undo years of training.
once you aquire, the red dot is awesome.
