Now one thing I forgot as I was watching a vid on how to remove the trigger so I can go back some time this month and do another detail strip/clean. Are the extractors drop in ready or will I need to do some work? Or should I just get a new spring since I had no issues the first 17 rds? I do plan on going to the range on the 22nd and probably dumping another 100 or so of my reloads through her just to make sure all is good.

Why change anything if you had no trouble?

Now here's a question. I see trigger pulls SA in the mid 5's new, and DA close to 12. Out of an ave of 5 pulls I'm getting 4 lbs 13 oz in SA and 10 lbs 8 oz DA. Since I'm sure this has been shot almost to death as evidenced by the filth and grime I cleaned out, would I see much more of an improvement with upgrading? I do plan on shooting my reloads which are pretty snappy compared to factory out of my other pistols.

You won't see much of an improvement in SA by just changing hammer springs. A lighter hammer spring will improve/lower your DA pull.

It depends on what all you would be upgrading and where your wanting to get your pull weight down to.

Right now I'm leaning toward the race hammer package with sear CGW has, the firing pin, and springs they recommend. I really don't know how far I want to go down in weights. This will be the first gun I try to modify since they are still in production. I figure fresh stock springs for now and take her shooting till about June when I settle on who I want to refinish her and go from there. This is my there are no stupid question phase looking at and figuring out how to do this.

Depending on how good you polish the internals with that the race hammer kit and ext firing pin kit will bring it down quite a bit. I'm using the 11.5 black hammer spring sao and actually just measured the weight the other day. I had guessed 2 1/2 but it's at 2.1lb pull.

Keep in mind whatever you polish on the gun you will have to redo when you get it back from refinishing.

I probably won't do any polishing yet just because there's still some dirt and grime under the trigger bar, which I just learned how to remove a day ago. I've done some polishing on my 3rd gen Smiths so I've got a basic understanding on how to do them. The vids I have seen that show polishing are somewhat confusing with the graphs instead of showing on the part itself what to do. Another gun forum I belong to called Indiana gun owners or INGO does meet and shoots once a month. Starting next week is the first, so I will test my reloads through her. then I'll give her another good detail cleaning in a month or two before I send to get refinished. I figure in 3 months through talking to you guys I will have a better idea of how I want to go and the exact parts I will need to get there.

You go to Deb's?  I live in Laporte maybe the same distance, but I go to Winamac where its a free outdoor range. Tell you what on the 22nd of March we have our first Meet and shoot if you would like to come. It starts at 9 est and the range opens at i believe 7am central 8 est. Otherwise I may be able to squeeze a trip. i do work midnights with Fridays and Saturdays off.

The 22nd is no good for me. Right now I'm about to start back up doing sewer and water but for the time being i have a open schedule. Debs is a last resort when is cold. Normally i hang out with some friends and shoot out in the country. I would rather take my time have a beer or something than get hit in the face with empty cartridges from the guy next to me. Especially in a basement
