CZ PCR - all fixed up.
« on: March 13, 2015, 04:23:17 AM »
I got my PCR out a few weeks back. This is my first CZ75 Compact. So far i have only had a chance to shoot it a few times. It is clear it is going to take some practice for me to adjust to the size and weight of this pistol. I like the feel of it so far just need more range time. Ill post some targets once i shoot some worth posting. I am going to stick with the stock sights for now. I blacked out the rear and repainted the front sight white to make the sights easier to focus.

I also had the chance to work on my first decocker. I managed to avoid taking apart the sear cage using the CGW slave pin. Getting the sear pin out took some hammering. Reinstalling the FPB lifter arm spring was the most time consuming part of the install. Next time around when i go back in to touch up the polishing ill likely take the sear cage apart for fun. Hopefully this maneuver will not end up bad.  ;D

The serrated trigger is not bothering me so far, i have heard a few peoples dislike of this trigger. Due to the indentation in the aluminum compact frame i could install Nill grips without the decocking lever hitting the grips while decocoking the pistol. On a full size CZ decocker Nill grips are no go.

Here it is stock.

I installed the CGW SRS Kit w/ T.2 Disco, D/C - Race hammer, Floating trigger pin, Extended firing pin w/ light spring, Compact Nill grips. Ill be using ether a 13 or 15# Hammer spring. I am testing out the 14# recoil spring atm, but i will likely run the stock recoil spring in this pistol.

I used the 75Plus CZ Pistol Stand for a few of the pics. A great tool for working on CZ's.

Nice job. I am planning the similar thing (T2+SRS+RP-TRS) for my P-01.
Remember David said sometime back that the max hammer spring weight for an extended FP is 13#.

^^Ya i was thinking about the max spring weight as well. Up to this point i had not run a 15# in anything. I double checked the website and saw this.

"61050 - Our new "Perfection" series FP for all firing pin block CZ's excluding the CZ-97B and CZ82/83.  Made from S-7 tool steel and heat treated to RC45 & includes a matching FP spring.  Fits SP, P-01, RAMI, 75B, 40B, etc.  Use with 15# or less hammer springs."

Ill still be keeping a close eye on my primers when i run the 15#.

I only had trouble with one type of ammo with the 8.5# main spring.  (Federal Aluminum)  All normal federal, Winchester, and even Freedom's 9mm all went no problem.

I have zero doubt the 13.5 will set anything off.  It hits plenty hard.  David even says his 13.5 will pop any primer on Earth with his firing pin.  Springs are cheap.  $7.  Grab 8-15 and see what you like best.

Or do you want the weight?

Ya,it is the other way around in this case. If too strong a hammer spring is used with the CGW extended firing pin, primers can be pierced. After checking the website, 15# is max with the Extended FP. I intend on sticking with the heaviest hammer spring i can run for testing purposes. If i end up shooting it allot ill likely lighten the springs. If i end up using it for SD. Ill go with the 15# if i can shoot well with it.

For my target shooting CZ's i run the 11.5# for the most part. I have in some cases achieved a crisper break with the 13#.

Are you after the certainty or the weight?

Idk about you but I only put really good ammo in a carry gun.  Stuff that will likely pop with any spring you put in there.  So running anything heavier wasn't even in my thought process?

I guess the logic is that in the worst of situations you may not have complete control of the ammo you use? I am just rationalizing here. I have always gathered from others setups that people run heavier springs in SD/carrry pistols for the extra assurance of consistent function and a heaver/safer pull weight. I cannot speak form personal experience, having very little my self. This will be the first pistol i have been motivated to "set up" for self defense. I have not decided on what the ideal SA or DA pull weight is for me in an SD pistol. It should be interesting to work it all out.

As of now i am going for the heavyset weights that i can shoot well in a limited amount of time. This may change as i get more perspective on the situation.

nice pistol there Tok. I kind of miss mine, but since I have a P01, I had to make a decision on how badly I wanted an SP01. well, the latter won that round but I still think about it once in a while. I was admiring the grips you installed as well. very nice indeed. but I have to say that these marschals absolutely blew me away :o I have a set on my P01 and when my SP01 gets back from CGW, I will be switching back and forth from these to the thick AL "lemon graters" but these are just....hubba hubba ::)

Nice job Tok. Looks great. [emoji41][emoji41] I see where you're going with the spring weight. Try 'em out and pick which one you're more comfortable with. FWIW, I haven't had any issues with my 13# springs in the Rami or Phantom.
Even if you have the best ammo on the market, there is a chance (all be it a small one) the the primer won't fire on first strike, with even the 15#. That's why I like to carry a DA for double strike capability.

And Puddintame, those grips are purdy[emoji41]

Good to know. I have CGW's SRS in my CZs with 13# main spring, should be safe.  Thanks for the info.

I've never had any problems with my #13 spring. I've shot Winchester, Federal, S&B, and CCI brass.

Very nice,  the PCR may just be my next gun. I love my P-01 but the shape of the for end might be better for carry.
