CDI CZ Quality??
« on: April 03, 2015, 04:05:50 AM »
I see that CDI (Coles Distributing) has CZ 75 BD's listed at what looks like a decent price.  Anyone have any experience buying one from them?

I've purchased four other pistols from Coles (a Browning HP, and FEG HP clone, an FEG .32 ACP, and a Taurus 917cs...and have been more than satisfied with those purchased, his service and prices.)

But wondering if anyone knows where these come from, he seems to have a lot of Israeli surplus (all his FN's seem to come from there); is there anything I should be looking for or asking and what else I need to know.

I had a CZ pre B a year or three ago, but someone made such an attractive offer I said yes and the gun was gone.  Now I sort of miss it....and would like to replace it with another CZ or a clone?  I know Tanfoglio makes a decent version....is there anyone else I might consider for a CZ 75 type pistol.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I'd like to know as well.  I've been eyeballing the crap out of all the ones listed hoping for a 75B in decent shape.

I recently bought two 75 bd's from Coles.  I paid 279 for one and 289 for the other.  I was very satisfied with both.  The finishes were poor and they were  very dirty--not just gun gunk dirty; I'm talking soil, sand, etc--so be ready to do some heavy duty cleaning.  Both functioned perfectly and shoot extremely well.  They are broken in but not worn out.  If you are looking for a project gun or just a good shooter and don't care about the finish, I highly recommend them.  I noticed that this latest batch are selling a little higher (300+) so they might be in better shape than the ones I bought.

I have a couple CZs a Matt stainless in 9mm and a poly 40. I just bought an amazing clone a canik 55 s 120. $340. It is a little improved you can put the safety on with hammer down and one in the chamber! It looks like a pretty b 75 has round trigger guard. I was going to buy a omega or bd and saw the clone for the price I could not walk away from  nice build quality!

If you want a CZ and have not got one....get one.  They have a wide selection of models using essentially the same trigger system.  All are extremely well made.  For the price how can you go wrong.  Once you have what you want in the CZ line and just have an itch to satisfy on the clone front then seek out one of the clones.  Just how I feel, you may fly differently.

'Think his site is down for good (?), but you can search "cdisales" within gunbroker.

Nope.

Yes.  The owner was a fairly large dealer for a long long time.  A cousin of his set him up to rob him and shot him multiple times.  Cole [Cole Distributing Inc] managed to get to his AK 47 despite being shot and saved himself and his family by killing the robber.  He was hit and spent some time in the hospital, and apparently reduced his presence online since.  He doesn't have a site up, and predominantly sells on GB.  (And I'd assume the shows in his area.)  I did some research and he's been around a long time and has a record of being a very good guy.

cdisales is Gary Cole.

I appreciate the information regarding the surpy 75's from those that have bought.  I have been watching them like a hawk looking for a project gun.  From what I've read, I would also like where my money would be going.  Which I can't say about everywhere I buy things.

I have bought 2 of the BD's of of him in the last few months. Paid $289 for a really nice one with a still serviceable finish and $269 for a more beat up one. The $269 one has almost no polycoat left on the front strap and some missing finish/rust at the front of the slide. Mechanically it is great. It was filthy when I got it and I have it detail stripped and am having it parkerized. I'll still have under $400 in it all said and done.

I have noticed that Gary seems to have increased his prices recently on his CZ's and most auctions are no longer buy it now. If you can get one that doesn't need a refinish for under $350 its still not a bad deal.

I won a transitional model CZ75 Pre B yesterday from CDI on GB. I've wanted to add a pre-B model for awhile now, and he had a bunch of early and later ones. I bid on a couple the first batch that went up, but was outbid on all of them. A few of those the finishes looked to be in better shape, but all went up over $350+. I placed the opening bid on another, and was surprised I actually won it. Eventually it might get a refinish, but I will probably do a few minor upgrades/changes and some new springs and shoot it a lot. I will be sending a money order for payment out Monday so I probably won't have it until the week after next I am guessing.

I have bought 3 from him. All 3 were better than the pic looked. Had a mag problem with a Mossad but was corrected soon. He seems like a stand up guy.

Most need a thorough cleaning and in some cases minor repair such as a new firing pin spring or extractor spring, he ussually indicates in his adds that the pistols should be examined by a gunsmith. I have found that them to be generally in decent mechanical condition ,most need refinishing. I like them and I actually will be posting some photos of two I just completely rebuilt and upgraded along with a fresh finish. I did an 85 and a 75 BD. photos coming soon in a new thread.

I see CDI went up on all their guns in the last day or 2. I was watching 3 and all 3 have higher prices now. Guess there was a price hike like other things.
