Tactical sport guide plug

Does anyone know why the 9 mm tactical sport has a polymer guide plug, but the .40 doesn't?

Spring size maybe?

You would think, but the replacement springs appear to be exactly the same for 9 mm and .40.

I have read that the TS 40 comes with a recoil buffer insert and the 9mm dose not. Though i cannot come up with a connection myself, maybe it has something to do with this.

BigDave,

I have a TS in 9mm and 40 S&W.  The only reason I can see is because the 9mm slide is lightened internally.  You can see a lot of extra machining inside the slide on the front end.

The recoil spring diameters are the same though.

Did anyone figure out what some TS slides have a recoil spring plug and others do not? And why is the plug/sleeve polymer and not some better material like stainlesssteel?
