How common is the PCR?
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:51:38 AM »
I've wanted a PCR for a long time,  almost since I got my '75B back in 2001. Every now and then, when I had the money to buy one, I'd look around and none would be available.  So last weekend, I looked and was surprised to find them for sale in quite a few places.  I ended up buying one from Davidsons Gallery of Guns on Sunday. They shipped it to my local dealer right away and I took it home on Wednesday.  :)

So did I just have good timing this time around, or are the PCRs more common now?

I think like most guns and especially CZ's, they are cyclic.

Search and search online and gun shops and you can't find the one you want and a few weeks later you have four places with it on stock.

I have learned to have the plastic ready and be set to jump when it becomes available. This technique let me get a P-02.SP-01 and a P-07 at a really good price.

Congratulations on your good luck. Enjoy your PCR.

The PCRs are less common than the PO-1s from what I have been told.  I was lucky enough to walk in to a local shop that had a PCR so I bought it.  Living in new York where we have a 10 round mag limit its real tough to find a PO-1 or PCR.  You will love it.

Yep, CZs seem to be available in cycles.  When I was looking for a PCR, none to be found.  Then all of a sudden they were everywhere.  Same thing with the Rami BD.    I always started looking when they were few and far between and ended up paying a little more than I would have paid if I had waited....but hey, a bird in hand.  ;D

Congratulations on your PCR.  You'll love it!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I do love it!

I took it to the range for the first time this morning and put 500 rounds through it. Mostly S&B FMJ, but a few boxes of Federal HPs too. It didn't give me one problem.

This thing seems very accurate too. When I did my job, the gun was putting the rounds in a tight group right to POA on my 15yard targets. I had no problem hitting steel at 25 yards either.

I didn't think I would, but I like the decocker actually. It makes it easy to practice with the DA trigger (like you would have to from a draw) and shooting from half cock is not bad. If they made the regular compact with an aluminum frame, I would never have bought this gun, but now I actually prefer this over the standard safety on my '75B.

I'm really glad I bought this gun. I don't know why it took me 14 years to finally get one. :o

Glad you found some love for the CZ decocker. Nice pic too.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

My favorite compact, and I enjoy shooting at steel also.

Nice score! I picked one up a couple months ago and had a little trouble finding it.

I have seen PCR's available all over the ineternet. However, sicne i live in Connecticut and am limited to 10 round magazines, they are rare. I did a special order and it took about 6 months. Well worth the wait though.

I'm really glad I bought mine. It's been my EDC since it proved reliable and has also gets shot at the range nearly every time I go (and I have no shortage of handguns to choose from, including two full size CZ-75s, a CZ-40B, CZ-70, CZ-52 and CZ-82).

Next on my want list is a P-01.
