Cz 85 combat barrels
« on: April 25, 2015, 09:49:43 PM »
I just got a cz 85 combat.   I notice that my barrel is blue while others I've seen appear to be stainless.   What is the difference and is one preferable?

CZ is shipping some guns with  blued/black barrel, others with the gray finish.
no difference in material or performance that we have seen.

Interesting, i have seen the black ones but not the blue ones. Are we talking about the same thing?
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

So this is black.  It looks good but will probably show wear faster.

Cz basically said "tough luck" when I asked them about why I ended up with a black barrel.   I guess with cz you should get one that you're able to check out in person.   I'm not in Glock world any more.

Anybody think it's a bad idea to polish the hood?

Nope, i have seen it done a few times. In fact CZC polished the barrel hood on my 75 Shadow.

As far as I have been able to tell, the CZ barrel is not stainless, it is just steel left in the white. Consider yourself lucky to have it blackened, probably makes it a little more rust resistant.

My 75B had the black heat treatment when I got it.  I polished all the visible portions with the slide closed:  bbl tip, all around the ejector port and some more.  NICE and shiny and never corroded,  but was shot regularly and never a safe queen.  A fling with bling.

My 75 Shadow bbl was also/is all shiny metal with the ramp and areas visible through the ejection port sections very polished.
