Just wanted to update you guys on the grips. The changes that I made to the fit cured the fit on one of the 97s but the other is still a little off. It looks like there's up to around a .030" variance in one of the grip frame dimensions that I have to account for. CZ does this on the aluminum grips by making them fit a little loose and then uses the taper part of the flat head screw to push them up against the frame so they won't wiggle.

I started a new job last week so I have less time at home to play around with them, but I'll get it done. It just might take a bit longer than I expected.

Thanks,

Dave

I've shot quite a few rounds and one match using the original prototype grips that Dave sent me.  They have been off the gun only once, just long enough to take some photos for Dave.  Really nice grips.

Dave when you are ready to offer these for sale I'd love a pair without the scallop as I'm a lefty.

Hey guys,

Another update. I found another 97 local to me to do some more fit testing. His is off by around the same amount as Joe's 97. I cut another set with looser tolerances in the dimension that's been giving me fits. They now fit pretty loose on mine with the grip screw out like the factory grips. With the screw in, there's no wiggle so I'm hoping that I finally have the fit down. I should be able to test them tomorrow night for fit on the other 97. If they fit his I might call them good to go.

Thanks,

Dave

Holy smeg DaveB, great job!!

Now I don't have a 97b yet, but I have been dreaming about it for quite a while, and later this year I do plan on acquiring 97b.  One thing that is a slight negative is the lack of grip choices for 97bs... at least grips that I find appealing.  Aside from 2 aluminum colors (where'd the red and blue go?), the rest of the custom grips available are all smooth laminated wood, maybe marschal offers one that has checkering (but it's not my style).  Anyways, I just have to admire the effort you put in and I feel the design and checkering is quite nice!  Count me in once I get my 97b, I'd go for your grips in a heartbeat!

Thanks twenty two!

I was finally able to test the fit on the other 97 that fits similar to Joe's last night and it looks like I finally have the fit down. I'm ready to start selling them but I'm working full time now so production is going to be a little slow. I should be able to make a half dozen or so a week. I'll be posting a few sets in the classified section of this site this week. I also have a few more micarta types that came in on Friday. The new types are green linen and black canvas.

Thanks,

Dave

Just thought I'd give an update on Dave's grips that he had sent me to try out. That is my 97b with the shadow rear sight in one of the previous post with chocolate paper micarta diamond grips and also the black linen checkering. I've shot quite of few previously on the range and can tell you that these grips work great if you like the relative size of the rubber and factory wood grips. They have a far better texture that gives a nice firm grip (I also use pro grip to enhance that characteristic) and the thumb scallop makes mag changes easier when your on the clock. I used the chocolate diamond pattern tonight in a local IDPA practice and was impressed. The black checkered pattern will be up next.  The grips are thicker but if your like me with large hands and you find the aluminum grips to thin these might be a solution for you. Dave has been great to work with and has a great product which fills a previously empty niche.

Order placed. Looking forward to trying them out (no hurry though, patience is golden). I am quite pleased to have another option to add to the few available CZ97 grips.

Where can I order these grips? I can't seem to find a post for these in the Classifieds.

Thanks
