Hammer swap question
« on: May 15, 2015, 08:49:58 AM »
Will be changing my hammer out in my 75B we parts arrive next week. I noticed the strut pin and disconnect pin have a punch/stake on them, after I knock them out do they need restaked ? It is a pretty tight fit to begin with.  Doesn't the frame keep the pins from coming out ? -Thanks

What parts are you getting? If the CGW hammer and hammer pins, you should be ok. The CGW pins are friction fit. Some guys still do a little staking just to be on the safe side.
What happens is, if the pins do start to work out, they will catch the frame and could bind. Which would cause the hammer not to drop, irregular wear, or just general frustration.

No, it's a CZ spur hammer made for the "newer" B models. Used on the retro and cold war comm. 75's.

I would make sure and stake the pins. Just to be on the safe side. It doesn't take much to do it. JMO[emoji6]

Those pins are so tight, I never did. I replaced 6 hammer and haven't had a problem yet.

I did too FMJ (not 6 guns though).  THe only reason I started having the pins staked is that David at CGW warned me of the mess it can create if the pin happens to walk out.  I'm one of those guys that thinks about the rare things that could happen.

I followed David's advice when installing his hammer pins.  I used red loctite in the last 1/8 inch.
