Kind of a moot argument. All (or most, I guess) full size pistols were designed for combat originally and some more than others make good range guns. It's all about context, the all steel 1911 served for 70+ years as the US's combat pistol; all 2 1/2 lbs. of it. Rails did not come in to play till about 10 years ago or so, whether Glock, Berretta , etc. In combat the pistol is secondary to the rifle. To say the CZ75 is to heavy and lacks a rail makes it a poor combat pistol would be to say that the AK is a poor combat rifle for the same reasons.
