Your tests are well handled.  Looking forward to your results with reliable methodology.

More interim update.    Remington primers are taller than others.  You can't get 100 of them in a Dillon primer tube with the tip off.

Next update.   I went to the range for a practice session yesterday.   I shot about 100 CCI, 100 Remington, 100 S&B and 100 Magtech.

The S&B, CCI and Remington all had one light strike failure.   Magtech had 3.   I also had a Magtech primer fall out of the primer pocket.   I've shot about 13k of my own reloads and this is the first time I've seen this happen.

I still need to do step on on the Winchester primers I have.   That should be next weekend.   The week after that is a match.   I'll try to do the 8.5# spring test on the 4th of July.

Just to clarify, current tests were done with the 11.5 lb hammer spring and extended firing pin?

Are you using the older nickel plated MagTech primers, or the newer unplated ones with the >< imprinted on the primer cup?

Current is 91030 with 11.5# hammer spring and one coil off of a cgw reduced power firing pin spring.

Using new type Magtech primers.

By chance did you run the  light strike failures through a second time to make sure they were not just high primers ?

All of them, but the one where the primer fell out of the case, went "bang" on the second strike.

I had a practice session today.  Still running the 11.5# hammer spring.   100 Winchester primers, 200 CCI.    All of them went bang the first time.

Just want to watch this thread.  I?ve just started reloading (.308) and have only used CCI primers, but want to start loading for handguns sometime this summer, but can?t find the CCI small pistol primers I want.  Not being familiar with primers yet, I?m going to be watching threads on primers and probably asking questions.  Finding powder and primers at the same place to keep the hazard shipping cost down is very difficult, but if I?m able to open my options on primers, it might be a little easier.

wingspar, CCI - Winchester - Federal are excellent typical pistol primers. There are others mentioned in this tread that I have not tried but am sure they work fine. From my personal experience Fed SPP  are my favorite but use CCI and Win primers with all my CZ's and have no problem with any not igniting. As for LPP I prefer Win & CCI - the Fed primers are softer and if not fed perfectly they tend to crush slightly. I typically load my 45acp with Win primers. Others may have different opinions on above but just giving you one view.

I?ve heard that the Federal primers can be soft, and having so little reloading experience (less than 100 rounds) I hesitate with the Federal primers.  That?s one vote for Winchester, and I do see them in stock.

Federal primers are soft.  That's not a knock.  It was intended, and for some people, it's an advantage.  It should not be a reason to avoid them.

You can defray the HAZMAT fee buy adding powder to your primer purchase OR by buying twice as many primers as you planned.  Don't pass on a good primer buy because you can't find the powder you want.  ;)
