May have missed it,  but smitty what case  headstamps  were those FTF primers loaded in?
PPU?  WCC?

Try ALL R&P and the primers should align & bottom out easily in those primer holes.   WIN cases also seat easily with mine.
I only use Federals & always have except for some tests with WINs. :-\

Well I finally made it back to the range to try the 8.5# spring out on the Winchester primers. I shot a little shy of 350 rounds and there was only one that did not fire on first strike. It happened at end of session in the middle of a drill so I just pulled the trigger again and it went bang. Unfortunately as a result I could not say if it was a high primer or not but I was very happy with the results. I will keep the 8.5# in for now and unless there is some big spike in FTF I will probably stick with it.

A friend had some Freedom 147gr that I tried and out of 12 rounds 4 needed a second strike so definitely a no go there.

I find the Winchester primers much easier to seat. I don't feel bad about really putting some muscle on the seating lever as they don't distort or do weird things. They simply seat fully and stay, even in some unmodified military cases. And I've never had issues with failure to fire.

I use mainly Federal in my competition rounds, but they need the primer pockets fully preped and require a lot more "feel" during insertion. I've never set one off in the press, but several have been managed beyond recognition, to a point where the Quality Assurance Dept didn't consider them competition grade.

FWIW,  a shooter friend had his digital pull gage with him at our last match:

My 75 Shadow showed 2lbs 4 ozs SA and 4 lbs 8 ozs +/- DA depending on the pull point.
Only pulled 3-4 times with a handheld pistol so weights may not be very exact .

That light DA/SA doesn't like WIN or other than FED primers.
