SAR K2 45 ACP Trigger Bar Broken
« on: June 24, 2015, 12:38:03 PM »

Now here is the catch, this has happened to two different firearms. The first went back to Davidson's after only 200 rounds.  This one made it around 1,000 before it let go.  Both pistols were manufactured in the 2012-2013 area.  The second pistol I have done some work on so I am not wanting to send it back to Davidson's for a new one nor do they currently have any in stock anyway.  I'm sure the next step for Davidson's would be to send it off to EAA which I'm not to thrilled about in reference that it could be who knows 6 months before I have the firearm back.

So any ideas as to what may be causing the stress on this part.  I've read up that this has happened to Witness firearms too with them being nearly the same design in this area.  I can't see how the area back by the interrupter (where it has broken twice) would have much stress and see no areas on the frame either where there is dragging etc.

Additionally, I called up EAA and it was a "tough for you" ordeal.  I could either send the pistol in on my dime there and back or pay for the part myself etc.  I have no problems fitting a new trigger bar; it is a straight forward process and this isn't my first rodeo anyway.  EAA does irk me though in that I think the trigger bar issue is simply too brittle of a MIM part due to incorrect heat treating etc.  I feel they should have sent me the part at no charge vs me paying $24.00 plus a rip of $10 in a flat rate shipping cost.

Thoughts???

I been there and done this one over year ago. I actually keep a spare one these on hand. EAA essentially does not care they simply import these pistols. They are not the manufacturer. On ther other hand I just had a great experience with SIG. I had a gun in from a customer who got a used Sig Mosquito cheap, it was missing the decock lever spring. I called Sig expecting to pay for it as this was a used and abused firearm and they sent what I wanted for free- no charges at all.

Yep.......I'm getting that EAA just is in fact an importer.  CS is not perfect by any means and standing by their product less so apparently.  An obvious manufacture part failure with, I'm betting, improper heat treating of parts and now I'm paying for it.  I can hope this time around the new trigger bar will be correctly manufactured.  The real issue is the question at hand..................when will it happen again? I'm not real comfortable using it for any type of self defense.  Will it break again at 200 rounds or will it be later at 1000 rounds or??????

I'm hoping others will chime in to see what their experiences have been with total # of rounds etc. along with year of production.  The SAR K2 45 being in the market for not very long, I'm looking to isolate some variables here and see if others are running into problems.

I had just short of 5000 rounds thru mine , I as not happy camper , but they did not give me any real options that I liked other than to buy a replacement part. I bought two so i would have an extra. I have had to deal with them on one of their pistols and got no better outcome on that either, there customer service is lacking.

Brian, if you don't mind me asking, do you know when your SAR K2 45 was manufactured?  Maybe when you purchased it?

Woof, I really wanted the Sar K2 45 to be a reliable, undervalued combat pistol, but with multiple reports of broken trigger bars and slide stops, I don't think i can rely on it for fighting. I guess you get what you pay for. I haven't had any issues in about 600 rounds, but now I just won't have the confidence with it in hand.

I have about 1500 rounds thru mine with no issues.  I'm not worried about mine.
That said, I don't carry it, but use it as a Winter House Pistol.

New trigger bar part came in and has been polished in necessary areas.  I put the pistol back together and took it to the range today......everything back to way it was and the SAR shot very well.

We shall see from here!  Seems like the pistol Brian has had issues with was probably manufacture around the same time frame as mine I would think if he bought his new.  Hopefully the heat treating was done correctly on this MIM part and I won't be seeing any more issues of brittle, overly hard parts.

New to this site. Having read this post about the issue with the trigger bar I called EAA today to purchase one of these as a spare part since I really enjoy shooting this pistol and have already put over 500 rounds through it. The quoted me $100 for one plus the $10 shipping. I decided not to purchase a spare at this time, needless to say.

Seem like I either purchase the pistols being closed out cheaply to use as a spares gun or relegate the k2 I currently have as a home defense gun and shoot very little. I may try writing directly to manufacturer to see if they have more reasonable price because what I was quoted today seems unreasonable.

Greyson, please follow up with the results of trying to contact Sarsilmaz. I emailed once about a slide stop but never heard back.

I wrote to Sarsilmaz a while ago about how pleased I was with my k2 45 and I'm thinking it was received there like an employee at Ruger in NH getting an email written in Turkish language  ;D.  I would like a few spares also but with EAA prices that high I will hold off. Is there a distributor in Canada or another country that we could buy parts at reasonable prices?  Sarsilmaz might be better off with a different US distributor to represent their products.

ZardozCZ, I never heard back from them. Maybe worth a try writing or calling them at the contacts in the manual to get info on spares or another source. Also thinking of writing to the location in Cocoa Florida ... I think that it is now SAR at that location and no longer EAA.

I really really like shooting this, much more than any of my other pistols. Have nothing near as accurate as this so I really want to stock up on spares and shoot the heck out of this gun.
