New Cz sp01 shadow progress along with hammer question
« on: June 30, 2015, 05:52:39 PM »
Hi I'm Nate and very new to the Cz community... I just purchased my first Cz (sp01 shadow) from the wonderful guys at czc and I wanted to share my trigger weights after CGW parts and then after polishing it.  I've read many many great post from this forum and figured I would give it a shot myself and share my success as well as passing on my findings so maybe I can help others....

I can't remember my exact stock weights but somewhere along
9# DA
4# 5oz  SA

After CGW 11.5# hammer, 11# recoil, extended FP with LW FPS, LW TRS, disconnector, SS guide rod, and new pins
6# 5oz DA
2# 10oz SA

After polishing trigger bar, inside frame, rails, and hammer strut
5# 15oz DA
2# SA

I have pictures but I can't figure out how to add pictures. I used a Lyman gauge
I haven't been able to test on factory ammo yet.  I will update as soon as I can.  Also was wondering if I would benefit from czc comp wide hammer?  Thanks in advance and sorry if I didn't follow the right format nor post this in the right spot.

Does anyone have experience using the czc hammer with the 11.5 hammer/main spring and the CGW extended FP with factory ammo?  Also I read the thread on how to post pictures but it might not be doable with an iPhone...

If you load a program like "Tap-A-Talk", it offers a lot more functions.  I did, it did,  but it took a lot of battery and space with my android phone.  I removed it,  cuz I have a PC handy. :-\

P.S.  This my 'First' cell phone,  so I'm still Ilbiterate.

Yep tapatalk on an I phone works great. I also use a pic resize app. Use the resize app to take a pic, size it, post with tapatalk.

Welcome to the forum CZNate.

Thank you for posting your before and after pull weights. I installed the same parts and polished the areas you did in my SP-01 Tactical. I do not have a trigger pull gauge yet, it's on its way, and I was curious where my pulls might be. All I know is that there is substantial before and after difference.

Many thanks for introducing me to tap stalk guys.  Finally I can post some photos... I've taken it to the range and I think I'm spoiled for my first time shooting a Cz but I've never been able to put 10/10 rds in the bullseye from 15 yds until this amazing pistol.  Fired all 200 factory federals with the 11.5 mainspring and the extended FPS.  Can't wait to take it to the farm to shoot steel and see how awesome the double taps are with this amazing recoil.  So do you experts (possibly Stuart) suggest going with the czc competition hammer or just leaving it as is.  Have some Vz black and gray tac diamonds coming in any day.  Thanks again and what a great forum. Taught me everything before I even got it

Seeing how your sa trigger pull is already 2lbs, you may not want the comp hammer.  It will reduce your sa pull weight even more.

It does offer a crisp creep free break.  It has a big difference in feel over the stock hammer.

What are your intentions for this pistol?

Cheers,
Toby

I ordered it already along with an adjustable sear and the CGW pins... Using it for Target practice and eventually competition shooting...   I do see your point Toby... Never thought I would say this but I hope it doesn't bring the SA down much more.  I was figuring it isn't that much more aggressive than the shadow hammer.  The gun shoots perfect and had a great trigger already but I just decided to go all out haha

If your SA weight gets too light just bump up to the 13 lb spring.

The downside is the DA weight will go up as well.

I have one gun that needs the spring increased (SA is just too light) which is my wifes RAMI, the only thing slowing me down is the DA trigger is better than any gun I have ever handled EVER.

Haha.  I was thinking the exact thing.  The balance between SA/DA.  I do have a 13 lb lying around somewhere just encase. I'll keep you guys updated as soon as I'm done.

Going up on the hammer spring will have a noticeable effect on the DA pull and a very minor affect on the SA pull.
Increasing the trigger spring strength (stronger spring or bending the tang a little). will directly affect the SA pull.
Just a consideration.

Thanks 1SOW,  I still have my old TRS (almost confused the CGW TRS with it). I'll see how it feels and if it's to light of SA I'll try my old one.  Btw this is really funny to see your name cause I just read an old response of yours on Brian enos.   Your everywhere haha

1sow... I just read your post on "whining SA pull" lol.  I see that I can also bend the sear spring as well if need be

You could get a Tanfoglio sear spring. It has one extra coil of spring (4 vs 3 coils for CZ sear spring IIRC), and should give you added weight in the SA trigger pull, without drastic effects on the DA. The 13# main spring would push the DA to about 7 lbs plus. I have to admit, I have the tanfoglio sear spring, but have not tried it yet to note down the difference with stock CZ.
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull
