I too am a CZ newbie, and have largely the same question for the brain trust here, but with a twist. I bought my first CZ, a 2075 RAMI BD a few months ago, after a lifetime of shooting and carrying daily for 40 years, almost everything else, to include Smith revolvers, 1911's, all manner of plastic pistols, just about anything of quality. I found something I liked about most of the classics at the time. My favorite carry pistols have usually been mid-size compacts. I have a tiny pocket 9mm for those days when shorts and a tee shirt are all we can wear here in sunny Miami, but usually try to pack something with a bit more capacity under a light shirt when I can. My last duty gun when I was a cop was a Glock 19, carried on and off duty and it was fine. I could go with that again, but my little RAMI has sort of caught my attention in a way that Glocks never did.
I purchased my RAMI totally on impulse a few months ago from a dealer friend who bought if for his girlfriend, and put it up for sale when she had trouble racking the slide. (It is hard, but is getting easier) It came with two 10 round magazines, and six factory 14 round mags, and had been fired a total of 40 shots. It has rapidly become one of my favorite pistols, except for the decocker feeling a bit stiff, which the factory says they will attend to for me.
So here is my question. I much, much prefer the feel of the RAMI with the 14 round extended magazines. I find that grip to be just about perfect for me. I can live with the 10 rounders and shoot it well also, but the 14 looks weird, but feels perfect. I've been mulling over picking up a PCR for the more full grip, and I understand that if I remove the sleeves from my 14 round magazines, they are simply PCR magazines, so I would be good to go there. Is this true? If so, at factory new prices that saves a couple hundred bucks just in magazines.
My next question is, does anyone who has handled both think that I would notice much difference between a PCR and the RAMI with a 14 rounder installed? I know there will be a slight difference in sight radius, but I am shooting the RAMI very well right now (I've beat the factory test target at 15 meters by a little bit), and it already has factory night sights that do not come on the PCR I have access to, which is also a decocker version. I'm mostly interested in how differently the PCR might handle than the RAMI, recoil, ease of slide manipulation, grip acquisition on the draw, etc. If it simply equaled the accuracy of the RAMI I'd be tickled pink. I just don't want to drop $500 on a new pistol that essentially duplicates what I already have. I'm also not sure if I got a PCR whether I would keep the RAMI or just sell it to someone who wanted a super clean subcompact. Advice on that point is appreciated.
I do not have access to a PCR to handle locally. Any advice from PCR owners, especially those who have also shot the RAMI, would be greatly appreciated, as well as confirmation about the magazines. Thanks.
