CZ 512: Is there a way to mount a Burris Fast Fire?
« on: July 19, 2015, 03:03:28 PM »
Hi All.
I got a CZ 512 a few months ago and love it. I recently decided I want to shoot it at "Speed Steel" competitions and purchased a Burris FastFire to mount on it. The Burris FastFire mounts onto a picatinny rail and I figured it would be no big deal to find an adapter to fit on the 512 11mm dovetail, but I haven't had any luck so far. I purchased one of these (http://www.diproductsinc.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=156323&CAT=4268) from DI products thinking that an 11mm dovetail on one CZ rifle would be the same as an 11mm dovetail on another CZ rifle, but apparently I was wrong. The dovetail on the 512 must have a different angle to it because this scope mount won't fit on my dovetail.

Does anyone know of a way to attach a picatinny rail Burris FastFire to a CZ512? Thanks!

Are you sure the dovetail is 11mm on a 512?

Measure the top. If it's about 1/2" you have a 3/8" dovetail.

The DI rail should fit if it has an 11 mm dovetail.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

Neither the 3/8" or the 11mm rail from DIP fit. I ordered one of each just to make sure. The issue is that (apparently) the angles on the 512 dovetail differ from those on other 11mm CZ rifles.

According to the Cz-usa webstore 11mm rings for the 512 are the same as a 452 0r 455. If the angles are different the factory rings wouldn't work very well either.

Something sounds wrong.

That does seem weird doesn't it? I tried to install the DIP rail and couldn't get it on, even with some serious hammering. I gave the rail and rifle to a gunsmith who determined the angles on the rail didn't match the angles on the dovetail. Now I wonder if I just got a bad rail (???).

It would be worth a call to CZ, or maybe DIP.
