SP-01 Shadow Fail to Feed
« on: July 25, 2015, 03:13:50 PM »
I went out to practice today.   I shot a "cold" El Prez (12 rounds with a mag change) as my main bench mark drill.

I then went into doing some draw shoot 2's.   On the first one, the spent case failed to extract.   I got that out by pulling very hard on the slide.    When I tried to chamber the next round, it failed to feed.    The round stops feeding with the case roughly parallel to the feed ramp.   I tried multiple magazines and 2 different bullet profiles.   Nothing worked.

I tried putting in a new slides stop, no luck.    Heavier recoil spring (13# vs 12#), no luck.

I've torn it down and I don't see anything strange.   Any ideas?

Does the ammo drop freely in the barrel/chamber? Could be the case resizing issue or oal rather than bullet profile.

Check the extractor as well. Could be dirty, or worse, some issue related to its claw or spring.

Generally speaking, CZ guns are for hot ammo. Using heavier recoil spring should make your situation worse. You can try a few rounds of hot ammo to see if the problem goes away. If it does go away, a lighter recoil spring should work. But 12# is already pretty light. I don't know how light you can go. If you are still using a heavy main spring (16# to 20#), then using a lighter main spring could be another option. But you need to use extended firing pin with a lighter main spring (13# or lighter).

Coolbox +1

Th extractor might be a good bet.  Really clean it and look carefully at the claw.
