This question for anybody, do you think the slide on the 2016 suppressor ready models could be milled while keeping the factory sights? Secondary question,   is keeping the color possible too?

Will depend on the length of the RDS, position of mounting holes.
and how much care can be taken with the slide in the mill.

We've began offering milling Glock rear dovetails on the P series guns in front of the optic for those who want irons. As Stuart said, only short optics will fit in front of the rear sight dovetail. As for the factory finish, it can definitely be saved. We use precision vices with smooth jaws that won't scratch or damage the factory finish, then we can blue the milled area to protect against rust.

When we say short, what are some examples of short enough optics? Fast fire?

Fastfire is definitely too long to fit in front the factory rear sight dovetail.

I have a P09 with the CGW Pro Package done to it.
As I am reading the rules and forums for Optics Division, I have two questions:
1) Does the CGW hammer exclude this one from qualifying for this division? It is an external mod that isn't OFM, but hammers aren't listed specifically so trying to understand the phrasing of the rules.
2) CZCustom is selling their picatinny rail that fits into the rear sight dovetail. Optics Div rules state the optic must be mounted directly to the slide. With this phrasing, are they intending that you don't use a frame rail mount? This would mean that the one CZ is selling would still qualify.

I appreciate any help with this.

You can not use a CGW hammer in USPSA. You can use CZC's picatinny rail that fits into the rear sight dovetail, but you would be better off using a mount that is closer to the slide.  CZC has other mounts, Springer Precision has 3.

Thanks Boss!
That matches what I was thinking, but having a second opinion definitely give me a warm and fuzzy.

As for the Picatinny, since they have a rear sight cut into the rail it means it can serve dual purpose - which i like. If I manage to secure another P09 (which would be nice) I would feel better cutting the slide for optics.

I woudl buy a slide cut slide for my p09 but not cut my slide,. I have yet to see an optic that handles continuous recoil. A front or side mount makes most sense but then again puts the sight high above the bore.

We have a few guys we've milled slides for with approaching and well over 10K rounds on the same Fastfire III...

And if you don't trust electronics there's always the dual illuminated RMR.

Dual is the only RMR I'd ever own. Customers have reported more RMR failures to us than any other optic, and I'm 100% serious. Don't think since it costs the most it's the best - it's not.
