Need an INEXPENSIVE holster for my 85 Combat
« on: August 07, 2015, 10:19:13 PM »
Hello:
Just picked up my 85 Combat, and I am looking for an inexpensive range holster. (Would like to keep it well under $50.) I did read the sticky on holsters for the 85, but most of them are beyond my price range.
I did get a Bianchi Accumold that is made for the 85 plus some other makes/models. The gun fits ok, but is a bit looser than I like. I can't use the retention strap on it because of the goofy way it mounts to the belt loop, preventing me from putting a belt through it. (If you are familiar with Accumolds, you know what I mean.) If all else fails, I'll keep it. But I would prefer something that is a better fit.
I'd like something soft or lined, so as not to mar the finish on the gun.
Anyone have any recommendations other than what's on the sticky?
Thanks

Check out Outbags on Amazon. They make somewhat generic models that will fit a lot of different handguns. They are very well made and most of the are priced at around $15. I have three of them, but they are definitely not made for competition.
Here is one of them holding my Ruger SR1911.

My CZ 75B fits in the same holster. The metal belt clip can be removed.

Numrich has some surplus black leather holsters for $13.75 that fits the 75/85 series.

Thank you both. These both look like good options for my purposes. BTW, those Outbag holsters look very much like a nice affordable holster I bought a few years back for one of my guns; it was made by a company called Skyball Mountain. I am going to ask them if that was their previous name.

I'd spend just a bit more and get a Blade-Tech OWB.   BTW, if you find a deal on an SP-01 holster, they work and are easier to find than CZ85 holsters.   I take my 85 as a back up gun to matches.   No need to change holsters.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

I use A Safariland 568. You can usually find the for about $35 shipped. It is one of the better holsters I own.

Check on-line or local surplus stores for good used USGI UM84/92 holsters. These are designed to hold the Beretta M9 but fit other large pistols just fine. Based on recommendations on this forum I bought one and added the Bianchi thumb strap/snap accessory to carry my CZ-85 in and it works great.

I found someone on eBay selling NOS UM84  holsters for $30 & shipping, and a week after ordering that I found a good used one in black at a local surplus store for $10.

These are not speed holsters by any sense of the word. The are designed to secure and protect the pistol. But if you need a good, rugged field holster these really can't be beat.
Frankly my dear, I don't give a bleep

Here's some shots of my CZ85 and the Bianchi UM84 holster I recently picked up for $30. Highly recommended!

Here's a shot with the standard holster flap (just FYI, I'm a southpaw so I reversed the flap - very easy to do!):

Same holster but with the thumbstrap accessory ($10 off of Amazon):

Here's the thumbstrap attachment as seen from above:

And last, I bought the OD green holster from an eBay vendor for $30 + shipping, but when in my local surplus shop on Friday I spotted this used, but excellent condition black model. It was US military surplus and likely saw service on the duty belt of an MP. Total cost - $10:

I spent 23 years on active duty in the Army and carried many a Beretta M9 in these holster and have a lot of respect for the design. I don't think you can do much better for a field holster for a large frame semi-auto like the CZ-75/85 series.

I have not ordered from these folks yet but intend to.  I want to house my New Edition in leather.  Their prices are very good and Turkish leather has a solid reputation as well.

I like the nylon Blackhawk! Holster with the retention strap. Works well.

I have an old Uncle Mike's black nylon holster that holds several different pistols surprisingly well.
Academy Sporting Goods as well as many others handle Uncle Mikes nylon (stiff-holds shape well) holsters for about $14-16$-ish.

I've loaned mine out to several new match shooters,  and it has held a variety of pistols well enough for draw and shoot at the range.

It also holds one mag.  Adjustable for right or left draw.  Through the loop or steel belt clip.
