P09 in IDPA- you betcha!
« on: October 24, 2015, 07:00:29 PM »
I normally shoot my S&W 625 in IDPA, but decided to give the wheel gun a rest this month & shoot my P09.

Was quickly reminded of how accurate & smooth this gun can be. Am happy shooting it equipped with the decocker a in SSP.

While I didn't win my division, was happy with the results and my reintroduction with a great gun. Will be shooting it much more this year

Yep, I shoot mine in IDPA and also in our new local sport GADPA.

I shot a eight stage 200+ round match today with the fellow SO's and set up crew before the match tomorrow. What a sweet performing gun.

I also shoot a P-02 and a P-07 in IDPA CCP, a couple of more CZ great guns.

So enlighten me- what's GADPA?

I'd consider a P07, but just got a Sig 320 (another sweet gun)

GADPA is a very nice blend of USPSA and IDPA. Use of foot fault lines, but the target has two different sized zero zones, one for minor and one for major.  You only have to have one zero hit to neutralize a target, so if you are super accurate you shoot half as much. It's pretty flexible, but it's what resulted on the IDPA 2013 rule book revision and the change to required to classify for a major match, and the catastrophe that was the 2014 Georgia state IDPA championship

Yes, you have the option to shoot in different divisions. Concealed is very similar to IDPA except first mag can be 17+1 total of 34 rounds on body. Single Stack is just that and there is a Competition and Open Division.
There are fewer rules and most stages give you the option to shoot static, on the move or any combination of.

In terms of trigger speed or target transitions?
Pretty much a CZ fanboy.

Used my P09 again at this month's IDPA match and it performed admirably again. If I did my job, I got down zeros. While I didn't win my division, I came in the upper third of participants. Am more & more impressed with this gun. Might consider getting a P07 if this keeps up.

No malfunctions, accurate, easy to use, no issues at all. What can a shooter ask for?

You know you got something there when you are happy with the results.

I've come to appreciate the P-09 and all its potential as I shoot more matches with it. Biggest improvements came after I replaced the stock sights with Dawson Precision ones. I may not win any matches, but I get a kick out of guys in my squad checking my stage times.

Have fun!

I also changed my front sight w/ a fiber optic from CZ Custom. Easy to replace & am very pleased w/ results.

Retained the rear, only I blacked out the dots.

Another good IDPA day w/ my P09. Am constantly reminded how impressed I am with this gun. Shot well today, except for the last stage >:(- all my fault.

Smooth trigger ( stock) fits my hands well, recoil is minimal and easily manageable. What more can I ask for?

Think this is the year of the cz for me  ;D

Funny you say this- am trying to sell one of my 1911s locally to fund a P01, PCR or SP01.
