A quick 455 question (or three)
« on: November 04, 2015, 05:41:51 PM »
I'm thinking about buying the suppressor ready 455 Tacticool rifle for target shooting, but I'd like to be able to buy a .17 barrel at some point. If I've read other posts here correctly, all I would need to do is buy the .17 barrel and I'd be good to go. Is that correct?

Also, one MORE quick question. The threaded Tacticool is about $100 more than the other threaded 455. Is the stock the only difference? Is the Tacticool stock much better for accuracy?

Thanks.

Yes, you'd only need to buy a heavy barrel version of the .17 barrel and remove the magazine spacer. The barrel comes with a magazine.

The threaded American version has a tapered barrel as well.

but not the ability.

Thanks. What makes the Tacticool version so much more expensive? Is it just the stock? It's worth it if it adds to the accuracy, but is that indeed the case?

It's the cost of the stock. They are sourcing them from Boyd's. If you bought it separately it would cost you more BUT you only get the black version.

Not sure if it adds accuracy. There are plenty of Internet posts with people bedding the action, upgrading this, and shimming that. No telling if the gun needs it or they just like to fix things that work.

I have had a couple of chances to shoulder a Tacticool and feel how the stock handles. It was enough to put it on my Buy list. I was on the fence but now I can get a stock cut for a 452 American tapered barrel. Once I get over my 10/22 build fever I will put in an order for one.
