CZ 75 - help me decide which to buy
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:19:18 PM »
I have a CZ 75 PCR and would like to get another CZ.

Looked at the CZ 83 and the grips are too large (fine shooter but thinner grips don't seem to be available).  I like the CZ 97 (in 45ACP) but can't find one in southern California. But until one comes along, I'm itching to get another CZ.  Narrowed it down to a full size SP-01 or 75 BD.  Other then the safety vs decocker, what is the main difference between the two (besides aesthetics)? Does the rail of the SP-01 make it a more solid shooter (regarding recoil)? Are the triggers the same?  Thank you.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but my recommendation is to get at least one of each

If an 83's grips are too big,,, then a 97 won't work at all.

Are the grips to a 97 larger then a 1911 (or Beretta 92FS)?

Still, undecided between an SP-01 & 75BD

Do you want a rail or not?

I have a SP-01 and love it.  The upswept beaver tail makes a big difference to me.  Being extremely accurate is a plus too.... ;)

IIRC the 75 BD has plastic grips and the SP 01 has the better rubber grips IMHO.  I held both and liked the SP 01 better, the grips and the beavertail did it. The SP 01 also had night sights.

If you pick up a 75 bd, you will know your answer.

New BD owner here.

I LOVE THIS PISTOL!!

Actually, the plastic grips are quite good - but I replaced them with wood.

One of each seems like a good plan.  Its a tough choice to recommend one over the other.  If I had to get one first I'd lean towards the CZ 83 but I must admit that I like both my 83s and my 97.

I would get the SP-01 tactical.  Tritium sights and a rail.  Both of which the BD does not come with.  But hey, that's just me.

The 75BD was my first CZ and is my favorite for targets and the range. I found the SP-01 a little too heavy for my liking in the barrel area(front heavy).

My $.02? If you can find them in person and get them in your hands, pick the one that feels best to you.

Just placed an SP-01 in California jail. Previous owner bought it for his g/f but her hands are too small to hold (only one mag down the pipe).  Next few days will feel like months.  Would still like to buy a CZ 97.

Side note: Girlfriend was a lefty and he changed the mag release to left side.  Couldn't find a YouTube video on how to change it back to the right side.  Anyone have any leads on how a mechanically challenged individual can find simple instructions on moving back the mag release?

Congrats on the SP01. FWIW, in that thread it was mentioned to put loctite on the screw. CGW highly recommends restaking the screw. You'll see what screw I'm talking about when you read the thread. [emoji6]
