Torque Sequence Secrets?
« on: November 23, 2015, 08:07:01 PM »
So I contacted Matt at CZ USA parts to see if I could round up some reassembly instructions (torque specs tightening sequence, Loctite etc.) for the torx barrel screws on the Bren 805.  At this point he has not been forthcoming with info?!? IS this info proprietary, unknown or is he just being difficult? Any of you kind folks know the secret sauce (if any) to barrel retightening procedures?

Probably known. But at the assembly, and fielding level. Patience will probably serve you here. Maybe send simple English e-mail to CZUB? Maybe not great advice. But an option? I too, would like to know.

Found this, page 12: http://cz-export.cz/zbrojovka/cz-katalog/CZ-75_years_of_Service_Weapons_by_Ceska_Zbrojovka.pdf

Quote
The CZ 805 BREN barreled action exists also in caliber
7,62x39mm and, perspectively, in caliber 6,8x43mm SPC
Rem. In order to change the caliber of the weapon the
rifle is equipped with a simply removable barrel which
is fixed in the receiver by means of six screws (three screws
on both sides). The interesting thing is that the screw holes
are provided with polymer inserts which prevent from
heat bridge effect as well as from heat transmission from
the barrel to the external surface of the rifle. After the
screws are loosened the whole barrel assembly can be axially
slipped out including the lower mounting rail. The
barrel has been designed as floating with the single node
which contributes to the high precision of the rifle. In
order to tighten the screws while installing the barrel into
the rifle it is necessary to use the torque key included in
the basic accessories set; there is a defined tightening
torque and the order in which the individual screws
must be tightened is also pre-defined. Furthermore, if
the caliber of the rifle is to be changed, it is necessary
to replace the magazine well, the breech block and the
gas tube, which ensures that the pressure of the powder
gases generated in the course of discharge of the
particular cartridge achieves the energy needed for a reliable
operation of the automatic function.

Have also found reference to it being like the SCAR, in which case for the scar is 62 INCH lbs (not ft-lbs):

Ask again. They provided me with torque specs for the Scorpion but it took about two weeks to get the response.

Matt got back to me with a quote of 70 inch lbs. No torque sequence or other detail though.

here is my process, lightly snug the right side screws going from the back to front of the receiver, then lightly snug the left side screws going in the same order.  now, torque the rear most screw on the right side to 65 in/lbs, then the left side rear most, then the next on the right side, followed by the opposing one of the left side and so on.  I have found this to hold zero the most consistently when taking off and putting back on barrels.

Thanks Bison. You pretty much nailed it except CZ's manual recommends torqueing from front (muzzle end) to rear left then right next pair left then right, then rear pair left then right torqued to 8N/m. This info was graciously provided by member(AKToday)  along with the entire battle rifle (A1/A2) manual.  AKToday , Thank you again! Much, much appreciated!

If electronic, can you post to scribd or elsewhere?  If not electronic, can you scan and post?  Thanks much.
