Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I'm looking to get my first CZ. At first I as dead set on getting a P-09 but thought I'd like my first CZ to be a classic. As the title states, I'm sure this has been brought up several times and I've even went back through several pages to learn more. I'm torn and can't make up my mind between the standard 75B and the Omega. I already know the omega is simpler,  more robust and in most cases a better trigger out of the box. I also know the standard can be tuned better in all honesty is the Omega the way to go?


I'm not planning on carrying this gun to much. It's mostly going to be a range pistol and perhaps some IDPA matches at my local range. I'm not planning on replacing/upgrading everything right away but would like to be able to have the option if I desire. Will the custom options for the Omega trigger system continue to grow as more companies that do upgrades for them learn more about the trigger?


So in short...75B vs Omega?

Welcome aboard. For what you want (future upgrades, etc.) I'd go 75B.
    But wait, there's more. One big difference is the grip. The Omega has an upswept beaver tail. So if you have a chance to get both in your hands, see which feels better. If you prefer the grip of the Omega, but still want to be able to tune more..... Simple, get the SP01. [emoji2]
   Seriously tho, your gonna end up getting them all anyways. Welcome to the addiction. [emoji6]

Good luck with your decision.

I bought my first CZ, a 75 SP-01 and haven't even shot it yet and am already trying to decide the next CZ to purchase.

Edit: Hey my '12 has upswept tail but the CZ-USA's site shows them not having it!?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have actually had my eye on the sp01 as well, but I think I'm going to start off with the original. Plus everyone says CZ's are addicting so I'm sure it won't be my last either. It kinda sucks that the standard is more expensive then the Omega but that's due to it being cheaper to manufacture.

If you're planning to do your own work on the internals, the Omega system makes sense, for the reasons you stated in your original post.  But I'd say go with the standard trigger setup if you're even halfway seriously thinking of having it tuned by a professional at some point.

I have a P-01 that went through CZ Custom before I got it; the thing is amazingly accurate, and the trigger is fantastic.  My next CZ will most likely be some variant of the SP-01, and it'll get the full treatment by Cajun Gun Works as soon as the budget allows.

And they are rather 'addictive'.  Even before getting the SP-01, I'm already contemplating a 97 and a RAMI and ...

SP01 Tactical.  I have a 75B, a P-09 and a P-07.

For a range toy the Tactical would be my choice.  I like the de-cocker over the safety.

Well, the OP himself said he wanted his first to be a "classic", so really,  75b is going to be it.

For the same reason as the OP, my first was the classic 75b, but I did opt for the matte stainless for the beavertail mainly,  and I'm also a stainless freak when I have the option so that worked out great for me.

My second CZ was the TS in 9mm. Wow, what a pistol.

Now if CZ would make a stainless slide, aluminum lightweight frame Compact 75b, I'd jump right on that as my third.

For a classic, consider the all steel compact!  Close enough and could be used for carry at some point.  I do believe this will be my next gun.  After getting my first CZ the Matte Stainless, I'm a believer!  Future upgrade might be new sights for the Matte SS (Fiber Optic Front) and thinner grips for the future compact.
