New BGlas grip design for a New Year.
« on: January 01, 2016, 02:44:40 AM »
A few months ago I got to thinking. (And that can be dangerous sometimes [emoji2]) I love my Rami, but I wished it felt more like my other CZ's. Well hey, why can't it become a true 75 Subcompact??
I started taking measurements and sure enough I thought it could be done. So  I reached out to BGlas and told him my idea. Rami grips shaped like 75 series grips. Thumb rest and palm swell. BGlas was really interested, so thought I'd do what I could to help.
I had a set of plastic 75B grips lying around so I got out my Dremel and started cutting and sanding. Soon I had a set of very ugly, rough looking grips, that when installed on my Rami, had pretty much the exact same grip dimensions as my P01. ( I.E. Shape, feel and thickness swell to swell)

Told you they were ugly looking[emoji12][emoji12]
I sent them to BGlas to see what he could do. He's great to communicate with and soon he had some prototypes.
I asked before posting and he told me to go right ahead. Keep in mind that these are prototypes, but to look at them you'd never know it. He does beautiful work and as he progresses I'm sure I'll have to pick up some more[emoji2]
I just hope my post does him justice ( I tend to ramble) This set is a little thicker between the thumb rest and palm swell than what the 75's measure but it's pretty dang close. They are extremely comfortable and IMHO completely change the ergos of the Rami. As far as I'm concerned BGlas has turned the Rami into a completely different feeling pistol. Besides obviously being shorter in the grip, it now feels like when I grab ahold of my P01 or SP01. And they feel great when shooting. Yes they are a little thicker than the factory grips but I don't notice it while CCW'ing.
I'll try to post pics of my other set when I get a chance.
Ok here they are, these are morphed from his wide grip design.
        These are Koa wood

Here's some more. These are more based on my prototype I sent BGlas.
   These are Elder Box Burl.
The pics don't do these justice. The Burl is even prettier in person.

When measured across (side to side)
These are almost (within .5-1mm) the exact same as grips on the 75 series. They're hand made so yes, there's going to be some differences, but that's even better. Especially if yo want more or less palm swell. [emoji6]

    Thanks Tok.

In all honesty I can't notice any perceivable difference between the two grips except thickness ( which is all in working out the process) So I recommended BGlas just work from his wide grip pattern that he's more used to.
Frankly for anyone that didn't like the Rami because of the "blocky" feel, this takes care of that completely.

That is awesome!

I love my grips from Bglas.

I still think its one of the best upgrades you can make. At first I thought they where nice, but then I noticed I did not think about the grips for the last year.  Only reason why.... Because I cant think of any way to improve the feel, therefor out of sight out of mind kind of deal for me.

I have some carbon fiber grips on order from Brian and can't wait for their arrival.  The stock rubber Rami grips are OK, but I feel that gun deserves to be dressed up a little bit.  Great idea on customizing the shape and sending him plastic ones to use as a model.  [emoji106]

I really like the burl. I know exactly what you mean when the color does not show up correctly.
I have contacted him via his website. I am sure I will have new grips soon for my RAMI.

I will. I can't wait till he contacts me.  Full sized RAMI grips, WOW!
I had purchased these when I received my RAMI. These are Lazza's Monkey Grips. I have been very happy with these until I found out about the full size grips.
