1989 CZ 85
« on: January 10, 2016, 11:01:46 AM »
Good morning all. I just bought a pre B 85 and would like to ask about upgrades. Took it to range yesterday and it seems to shoot and function well. The trigger is very good as it is and groups pretty well for a old man like me. I want to put a ring hammer on it so what else would you do while I have it all in pieces. I just love this old gun. I've got 4 other CZ's but this gun just feels good in your hand. Thanks for the input.  jim

Congrats! Not often you come across those. The SA reset is probably already pretty good with the pre-B configuration. How about simply reducing the main/hammer spring to #15-17 for lighter DA? Does it come with front ramp sights? Photos of your beauty would be appreciated.

If you want a really good ring hammer trigger pull, try this one.  It will be really crisp.

I'll post a pic tomorrow. I have to figure out how to do it first. I also bought a 75 Massada in nickle that you all might like to see. Both guns function well but need cleaned up badly. I thought the Massada was a novelity so I had to have it.

Good chance it was purchased by a member of our armed forces in Germany.  That is how I obtained my pre-B CZ75 and CZ83 (.380 ACP) -- from a Rod and Gun Club near Stuttgart.

I'm thinking Israeli surplus due to the inclusion of a lanyard ring mainspring plug.

Is that what we are looking at? It is tough to see but it looks like the frame has a hole with a peg in it. I have seen some with key rings installed into the peg on other CZs.

The gun is a import from somewhere. Does not seem to have been shot a lot from looking at the inside. I got it off gunbroker. I've had good luck with the imports that I have bought. I've never owned a 85, and think I will really like it. I also got a SC Massada 75 from the same people. Love these CZ guns. Most of my pistols were Beretta's for a while, now I'm on the CZ train.

Wherever it came from it looks to be in decent condition.

Can you send photos of the Masada? I am not familiar with this brand.
