Only found one dealer in Orlando, but they're out of stock currently.

I would suggest that you actually put your hands on some Tristars/Caniks before you order one. I took a chance when I bought my T-120 just going by the reviews I read. I'm still very happy with my purchase, but I still would suggest that you put your hands on some first.

Unfortunately I can't.

I'm in a pretty crappy situation where I go to school in IL, but I am a FL resident. I'm planning on buying a gun when I go home for Spring Break, but I only have like a few hours because of the 3 day hold on handguns.

And I am not even allowed to handle firearms here in IL because I don't have a FOID. And my range doesn't even have a CZ. I do plan on shooting some other guns to see if I like them. I just really like the metal frame after shooting a Beretta 92FS.

You shouldn't need a FOID card. Non residents aren't required to have one. According to the IL. State site.

Yea, unfortunately you do. To handle the guns.

I can rent firearms or bring my own, but I can't handle them at Gander Mountain or any gun stores around here. It's really friggin stupid.

I love how out of states can easily rent guns, but IL residents have to have a FOID just to rent.

Haha yea. I knew Chicago was strict, but I didn't know the entire state of IL was super strict since I only hear about Maryland and Cali on the forums. I guess it's always just a weird situation if you're a student out of state.

I could get a concealed license to pick up my gun right away in FL, but I don't plan on carrying, only shooting at the range. So that would just be a huge chunk of money out of my gun and ammo fund.

Back to the topic though.. thanks for the Gunwatcher link! 405 isn't too shabby for the S-120. Plus ~20 for FFL.

The price:quality ratio of the Caniks is impressive.  However, when I was shopping the comparable CZ and Canik models the CZ's were usually $120 to $150 above the cost of the Canik.  Considering things like alloy vs steel frame and resale value, I generally ended up with a CZ.   Today I was shooting a PCR and Stingray-C and enjoyed both equally.  Never had an issue with the Canik and am glad I purchased it.  Bottom line is they are both good side arms.

Resale value is a significant factor, if that is a factor that is important to you. Alloy vs. steel is not detracting. In fact, it can be a plus. In any event, Canik makes alloy and steel frames.

One of the reasons I liked the Canik was for the alloy frame. Never plan to sell or trade it.  Have only traded in one gun I have ever owned....SCCY Gen 1 CPX1 on my S&W SD9VE.
