Canik vs. CZ
« on: February 01, 2016, 09:19:46 PM »
Now that the Caniks have been out for a while, I have a question for all of us Canik and CZ owners.

Are these Canik pistols of comparable quality to the CZ that they will hold up to just as many rounds and as much abuse as will a CZ?

I have a C-100, L-120 and a CZ85b. I don't have a lot of rounds through any of them. The CZ has about 1800, the C-100 has over 500 and the L-120 only has about 150. From my layperson's observations, I don't see anything that would make the Caniks inferior to the CZs.

Interesting question, but my matte stainless CZ75b and C-100, L-120 and P-100 don't have enough rounds through them to objectively comment just yet.

I have run Caniks harder than most on the forum. I have 4 and 1/2 years building and shooting custom Caniks, Sars, and of course I love my Cz's. To date I have had one failure with a Canik, I called and asked for a replacement part ,instead they had me send back the pistol and sent a me new one, this was a stock stingray model. On average my caniks have 5000 to 7000 rounds thru them. I have been very satisfied with the performance to date. I have broken one older Cz as well a slide stop failed, no big deal.

Caniks are very good, I have owned a stingray and currently own a C100 with approx. 4500+ rounds thru it.
No issues whatsoever. I think CZ has a little better control over tolerances but that is only because Canik likes to change things from run to run.

Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I should have also included in my question a request for opinions on fit and finnish as well as the quality of parts.

They are pretty darn close IMO.

My L-120 has held-up to considerable abuse just fine, and is arguably overall as good a pistol as my SP-01 that as cost me 3x as much (with all the upgrades).

At least one plus that I can think of for the Caniks is that they are a lot easier to find than the CZs.

Really? I can't find the Caniks anywhere! Especially not at the $300 price that a lot of people are claiming to get them for.

Do I just have to find physical stores to get them?

You can find them at Sportsmans Warehouse, if you have any in your area. I did find my L120 for a sreaming deal at a LGS fairly recently. Good luck

Unfortunately no :( Can't find any in FL!

Only found one dealer in Orlando, but they're out of stock currently.

They are hard to find in Louisiana too. Some of our LGS are using a free website service provided by their distributers. I just googled my LGS and went to their website. Searched for my Tristar S-120 and it checked the Distributer stock. I paid for it online and picked it up at my LGS 2 days later with no shipping fee.

I found my last 2 at LGS in S Florida. The plastic grips really make them look cheap. I offered to get both if they made me a deal because they were lowering the value of the other high dollar pistols. They agreed and I left with both for less than $600. out the door. That was a L and a T 120.
I don't know how long before the masses figure out how good these are. I have to beat my friends off every time I bring one out.
