Yea I haven't seen very many cheap used CZs. The last one I saw was $500 but it included Vz grips at least.

I'm honestly so confused right now and not sure what the best choice is since I can't shoot the guns. I'm looking quite heavily at the SAR K2P for 315 after fees since people seem to love it, but I really didn't love the FN FNX9 when I shot a polymer gun. I felt I couldn't really control it very well, but I've only gone shooting three times and with different guns every time.

If I spend another 100 I can get a steel framed Tri Star S-120, which has a little bit of upgrade capability too. But then I think, if I spend another 150 I can just get a CZ85 Combat haha but then that's 250 more than the K2P.

I don't mind spending more since I doubt I'll purchase another gun for the next few years, but I'm also on a graduate student stipend.

My plan is to shoot another polymer gun this week, maybe striker fired just to see what a Glock is like.

Some FFLs don't accept incoming shipments from non-FFL holders, but that is a question of the dealer's policy and not of law.
Good point Eastman. Thanks for mentioning that.

SlvrDragon50, personally I think if it were me, I'd get the S-120.
Your already sounding hesitant on the poly framed K2P. The S-120 will give you the steel frame, and save you a little cash. That will also free up some funds for buying ammo.
To be honest, the main reason I don't own a Canik at this time, is because I prefer Decockers.
There's nothing saying that you can't sell the Canik later and get a CZ. If you decide that you don't like the CZ platform you're not out as much money.
Cheaper used CZ's are out there, you just have to be lucky. I picked up a LNIB 75B last year (I think) at a gunshow for $350. Sold it this fall to fund my SP01 Tactical.

It is a lot of money going up to a CZ, but it will still be a lot of money going up to a CZ after you tire of your Caniks and find yourself still wanting a CZ.  You will be better off waiting and getting what you want.  That's a pretty smoking deal on that 85 Combat up there.

What do you want the gun for?  If it's just a range toy, about any CZ will do.  For competition, then the 85C and SP01 will start to sing their siren song.  I like my 75B as much as my SP01 shadow custom.  And my compact I take for granted until I shoot it again then the love affair is rekindled.

Some dude getting romantic with his guns on the net won't tell you much, there are dudes who feel that way about every brand.  I have the guns I want to have and that is awesome.  For many folks who take the hobby seriously there is an emotional side to it as much as the utilitarian side.  Bummer you cannot hold it first to see how you emotionally respond to it.  Ultimately getting something you are emotionally and intellectually happy with is worth a couple months of scrimping and saving.

That said, being happy with your handgun purchase will not at all come close to making you happy at large.

There are some advantages to living in a CZ barren land.  If CZs aren't popular where you live you may find a new or good used one for a good price. Last year I found a near new CZ 75B at a gun show for $400. I put a Want To Buy add on Armslist for a CZ P-09 and in 3 days I had a near new one for $400. I think there are some great deals out there if a guy can be patient. Good luck!

Well, the only problem is that I go to school in Illinois, and I can only buy back in Florida.

And my next trip back to Florida leaves very little time to go shopping because of the 3 day hold, and I'll be gone for half of it :( So I'm really hoping to just have the gun already at the FFL so I can start the paperwork as soon as I get back and pick it up when I return from my mini vacation.

I think I might be able to stretch my funds, but I won't know for sure until next week. Really hoping the CZ-85 Combat is still in stock next week since the price difference is so small between the 75B and 85C.

I think the 85 Combat would be a great choice. Hold out for what you really want and you won't be disappointed.

Yea, I think you guys are convincing me to just drop the extra bit and get the 85 Combat. Even if it means I get to shoot a little bit less at first.

On the bright side, the CZ for 555 from toole only has 10 rd mags so I'm not so worried about missing out on the deal since I see that I can get the gun for 579 w/ 2 16 rd mags at Buds or Toole.

So I guess the next question I have is... I want to shoot something that will be kinda similar to a CZ at my range. This is my range's armory: http://www.highcalibertrainingcenter.com/range-info/rentals/

I've shot the Beretta 92 and liked it even though I kept shooting down and to the left (my error, my friend shot just fine). I'm thinking of getting the Springfield 1911 next time I go out since it'll also be a metal framed gun?

If you are somewhere in Broward or Palm Beach I have a 75b that you can try and see if you like it.

I have looking around in central Fl. Every dealer on the CZ web has had them in stock here anyway. Not sure of the pricing. as I have thinking about the P 07.   I am new to pistol life and went thru the same thoughts you are going thru now. Buy new or buy used save money. Aggravation is not worth a single dollar, buy new.

If you like the Beretta, you'll really like the CZ. The grip is narrower and more comfortable IMO.

IMHO, save up and buy new. I can't imagine a better pistol to learn the basics with than the CZ 75B or one of its variants. Unless you are familiar with pistols already, get a model with a safety. In later years, you'll probably go to a decocker or just leave the safety in the off position all the time, but for a newbie the safety is a must.

Glad to hear that since I have smaller hands, and the Beretta felt a bit big in my hands. Maybe I'll just shoot the Beretta again.

And yup, planning on getting a gun with a safety since it'll be a range only gun!

"7. May I lawfully ship a firearm directly to an out-of-State licensee, or must I have a licensee in my State ship it to him? May the licensee return the firearm to me, even if the shipment is across State lines?

Any person may ship firearms directly to a licensee in any State, with no requirement for another licensee to ship the firearm. However, handguns are not mailable through the United States Postal Service and must be shipped via common or contract carrier.(18 U.S.C. ?? 1715). Firearms shipped to FFLs for repair or any other lawful purpose may be returned to the person from whom received without transferring the firearm through an FFL in the recipient?s State of residence. FFLs may also return a replacement firearm of the same kind and type to the person from whom received. 18 U.S.C. ? 922(a)(2)(A)."

From ATF FAQ's. I wonder if the common carrier requirement for handguns might make it easier to have your FFL handle it, rather than privately shipping via common carrier to buyer's FFL?  Packaging, contracts, etc?

I was laboring under the misinformation that only long guns could go Private seller ---> FFL of buyer.

That's extremely generous of you and shows the class that's present on this forum. One gun not mentioned was an Omega that can be found nib for around $475. That's a great price on the 85 Combat. I bought one for $585 New Years eve and thought I got a really good price on it. Most Combats are over $600. Also check the Classifieds on this forum. The people selling them on here love CZ's and they sell a lot of nice well cared for guns on here.
