CZ75B/SP01 magazine question
« on: February 12, 2016, 01:00:03 AM »
Hopefully someone can say it isn't just me, but every magazine I have for my 75 and my SP01 seem to rattle and it is only when you top it off. If you drop one round out rattle goes away. Magazines have always performed 100% so the rattle isn't an issue but Does anyone else have this annoyance?

Magazine rattle is a common issue with a wide variety of pistols. Or more accurately, rounds in the magazine rattling. Even some of the 'perfect' Glock models have the issue. It's not you, and unless you are someone who needs complete Ninja-like silence while sneaking up on your intended target I don't think it's something you need to worry about.
Frankly my dear, I don't give a bleep

its not an annoyance to me.  My car rattles alot more but some people dont consider it a problem even tho you spend 1000X + more.

what i found out and its not always true is that if you remove a round it sometimes goes away.

but again, its not an issue for me.

I've noticed this with my P-01 with the 14rd mags too.  I haven't tried only 13rds to see if the rattle goes away, but will check that out.

Wow, you buy some pretty expensive cars!  Mine only cost 40x more than my $575 P-01.   ;D

This is a normal thing.  The mags' internal design where it changes from double stack to single stack doesn't keep uniform pressure on all the bullets all the time.  Increasing spring weight (+5% or +10%)will 'usually' minimize or eliminate the rattle if it troubles you.
Heavier springs also help prevent the second bullet in the mag from pulling forward a little when the top bullet feeds and causing a jam.

There 'was' an X-ray posted somewhere in the archives that showed the bullet stack when the mag was loaded.  Would you believe the #5 witness hole does not show the 5th bullet.  ;D   I was trying to find out 'where' to drill an 11th rd witness hole.  Harder to locate than it sounds--and so is the steel.
