Blem CZ97B
« on: February 27, 2016, 03:49:43 PM »
Hey gents! I am pretty commonly over at the 805 part of the site but recently have been looking into a CZ97B. I spoke to a CZ authorized dealer who indicated they had some CZ blem guns in stock. Is there anything to denote a blem gun beyond a cosmetic defect (serial number etc)? Heck, is there even such a thing as a blem CZ? The CZ97B I looked at was a coated gun that had some pretty poor lines in the manufacturing process, cosmetic yes, but generally not very appealing. The gun in question was of 2016 manufacture (stamped). The price was about average compared to those available on "Slick guns". So not a steal...

I have always taken "Blem gun" to mean cosmetic defect or has been fired. I cannot think of anything to look out for on the 97 aside from maybe inspecting the barrel bushing. They can eventually go but not at low round counts. Maybe the grip screw holes to make sure they have not been cross threaded?

If its a 2016 model CZ97 you get the updated feed ramp. The old one (Pre 2012?) caused some feeding issues.

There is not too much you can mess up on a CZ permanently without putting some effort into it.  :) Most all of the other stuff is pretty easy to fix.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Thanks Tok36. The dealer seemed  flexible when pressed on price (he guaranteed it to be new). However, when the pistol is laying on its side, there is a line (junction) where the slide frame meet. Then directly below that, parallel to the slide, is a line formed by a bevel cut and the flat of the frame ,This line isn't straight, as if someone got carried away with the casting clean-up process. It kind of wanders a bit before it makes the turn around the trigger guard and down the front strap to the mag well. it is only obvious on one side though. (I can here my Dad jokingly say "well, don't look at that side if it bothers ya!) If I can steal it I might buy it. Otherwise, I may just wait...

If the price its right it sounds like it could make a great shooter. As far as mechanical accuracy goes the 97 is tough the beat.
