I carried an XD Compact 45 for 8 years. It's a heavy-@$$ gun that goes boom instead of bang. When empty, it's like a tightrope walker with a Winnebago on his head. I carried in a Crossbreed Supertuck or a Maxpedition Versipack that entire time. It wasn't terrible, but I found the CZ felt better in my hands and was lighter (loaded) despite the alloy body and greater capacity.
I now carry a CZ 75D PCR Compact (is that redundant?) in a bellyband, or White Hat MaxTuck, or Maxpedition Versipack. I'm a stay at home dad of 3 kids, so the Versipack doubles as a diaper bag and EDC bag. (I forget which pocket has the spare mags and which has the Desitin.)
Btw, the bonus of the White Hat over the Crossbreed is the White Hat uses screws to hold the kydex to the leather, so you can buy multiple kydex for multiple guns and switch them out on yer own. Also, if you happen to break the kydex, the company will send you new kydex that you can replace yourself. It makes life really simple.
