The One Serious Downside to the CZ 97

My two beautiful 1911s have become safe queens.

I used to love the 1911. I'd go to gun shows, and oogle the 1911s. Now I go to the gun shows, see the 1911s and think to myself, "What a nice World War One relic; wonder why folks buy them?"

It's gotten to the point where I'm seriously thinking of unloading the 1911s . . . may keep one just to take to the range every now and then to remind myself that the 1911 does have perhaps the best trigger in the world, even if it is only SA, and folks that don't shoot often seem to really like the experience of shooting a 1911 just because it is a historic pistol.

But that's about it. On the other hand, I could use the coin to finance my CZ addiction.

1911's don't have the best triggers.  Send your 97B to CGW and have them do a Pro Package Enhanced with a SAO straight trigger and you will be amazed.  So much easier to shoot than a 1911.  I should know because I find it easier to shoot more accurately with my 97B-E Copperhead SAO than my Wilson Combat CQB Elite.  What's even more sad is the custom 97B is half the price of the WC.

My 97 broke my 1911 addiction. I sent them to live elsewhere. The 97 stays!

My 97 actually started my 1911, um, addiction because the guy who I bought my 97 from was also selling a Springfield 1911 9mm stainless "Loaded Target".
Now I have four...

My first 45 was a springfield loaded target - After I bought the 97 I have never shot it since.

Don't get me wrong, I love my CZ97B"E", but there is no way the trigger can compare to a 1911. In SA there is still a lot of creep before the trigger breaks and the re-set is mushy / jerky. Terrific gun but the trigger just can't compare to a decent 1911. IMHO of course!

Wow! that's interesting. I have 3 CGW hammers and SRS kits; each in the 97, SP01 and P01.  Creep is imperceptible and SA reset has an audible and tactile set. Take up due to the FPB is the compromise to these DA/SA pistols.

Yes, all 3 are DA/SA and still have the FPB in place. The work on the 97 and the P01 is documented in this forum and Gunsmithing.
