40sw P-07 Failure to chamber issues?
« on: March 15, 2016, 03:20:26 PM »
Hello all!  I am new to this forum and joined because I had a rather disappointing day at the range and wanted to run my issue past all the CZ experts in here.

I have a Gen 2 P-07 in 40sw (forward slide serrations, triangle shaped hammer, angular trigger).  My first time using it today, far from my first pistol.   My G22 ran w/o any issues today with the same ammo choking my P-07.

When loading the P-07 from slide lock release and from sling-shoting the slide, the rounds will hang up at an angle and not chamber.  This issue only seems to happen when there is 5 or more rounds in the magazine.  It happens with both magazines using Blazer Brass, WWB and Federal (all 180 grain FMJ).  The rim is not below the breech, but appears to not slide up the breech face.  Tapping the rear of the slide does not help and makes it worse.  Also, the slide seems to me to cycle slowly/sluggishly when firing.

Any ideas? Thank you for any suggestions!

This picture shows the issue, that is an unfired round jammed at an angle:

Call CZ-USA and explain the issue to them That's what the warranty is for and they are very easy to deal with. They will take care of it.

I would thoroughly clean it, and put 500 rounds of some good range ammo before calling anybody.

I'd lube the rails up good, CZ's like to run wet.  Rack it a bunch with no mag, then try it again with a full mag.   It might just be a little tight.   It should be slamming into battery with force.  A full mag will have more resistance than a half full mag.

It that doesn't work, it could be a weak recoil spring or who knows, and then I'd call CZ like Parrabellum said.  The best advice is call before screwing with it because they will know... me... I'd rather screw with it, then call.   ;D

Thank you for ?the suggestions!  I have an update: I tried a box of 155grain HSTs and a box of 165grain Gold Dots.  Both ran fine with no issues.  But, trying another box of Blazer Brass created ?the same problems.

That being the case I'd try some other ammo brands and see how it runs with them Blazer Brass may be a no go in your gun.

I picked up a box of Federal Am. Eagle and WWB, both 165 grainers.  Maybe the OAL of the 180-grains was the problem.  Anyone else with the 40 version have this trouble?

I've noticed that when feeding from both magazines, the bullet impacts the feed ramp about a 1/4" below the chamber and rides upwards.  The CZ seems to have a rather steep angled feed ramp compared to other semiautomatics?  Is this needed to reduce the unsupported chamber issues such as Glock with a shallower feed ramp into the chamber?

I would take a close look at your extractor and breech face and inspect them for burrs or anything els that may impede the rim of the case as it moves into place.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)
