That sounds a bit ridiculous that countries would prevent you from replacing your own trigger.

I am sure that there are people in other countries saying, "that sounds a bit ridiculous that a country would make you pay extra and wait months to protect your hearing with a suppressor...".

Every country has their weird laws - we can't get short barreled rifles in the US, but Canada can, while we can have short barreled handguns, but Canada can't. And that's right next door! Have to wonder if they will have to rechamber in things like 38 Super or .380 to avoid military caliber restrictions. Interesting stuff, had no idea the Scorpio was THAT popular, but that is quite cool. On the other hand, what odd ball restrictions will be put on US guns that we don't need?

This sounds like a huge hassle for people buying scorpions in the next few months.  I would not be happy if I ordered it online and then discovered it had a welded trigger case screw.  You then have to go through the hassle of sending it back to them at some point so they can replace is with a non-welded one.  Glad I have mine already because this is a little much.

I have an idea!  Lets piss off the market that made this product successful!  Yeah!  The Americans will love having their trigger housings tack welded in place!  Glad I got a 2015 model.

It's like the success was an accident instead of intentional when you see companies make this sort of mistake.  Bite the hand that feeds you.

Once the factory?s new molds are complete they will be sending us updated trigger housings that aren?t welded, which we will swap with any customer with a welded one at our expense.

So what's the big deal?

Depends. Will the owners of these welded Scorpions have to send in and be without their new firearm for a period of time or will they be able to send out new part in exchange for old?

At least they are giving a head's up so new owners know what to expect.

It said on the website that it would be replaced free of charge so I imagine this means sending the gun to them. A lot of people would have to take the gun to a gunsmith to get the welded  trigger screw out and I would bet that CZ is not going to reimburse those costs, they will just require it be sent to them to perform the work.

Thanks James,
that sucks, because shipping to CZ-USA isn't going to be free and the owner is going to be on the hook for the round trip, Ill bet.

What does changing the molds mean?  They have done more than simply spot welding the screw or they've decided drowning it loktite isn't sufficient.

Here is the entire announcement:

With the resounding success of the Scorpion S1 Pistol, our parent factory CZUB has been exploring what it will take to expand the Scorpion semi-auto?s distribution into more world markets.

To do this, they?ve developed some small modifications that will make the Scorpion platform importable in more countries. Modifications to the bolt and trigger housing are necessary to meet certain countries? standards and the factory has been rolling these changes into all S1 models to simplify production.

Long story short, the factory?s current production Scorpions have a tack weld hindering removal of the ?case securing screw? that holds in the trigger cage. The factory has been building new molds that incorporate a small change that eliminates the need for this weld, but they have been experiencing delays.

Initially we intended to wait to import 2016 Scorpions until the new molds were complete, but the extended delays have made us reconsider importing the welded versions.

By having the factory send us 2016 Scorpion models from current production with welded trigger case screws, we?ll be able to get the new pistol and carbine models to US distributors several months sooner than if we waited for the factory to complete their molds, send us production samples and have the ATF approve the new models for import.

What that means to US Scorpion buyers is that the guns shipping in the next few months will have a welded trigger case screw, complicating removal of the factory trigger cage.

Once the factory?s new molds are complete they will be sending us updated trigger housings that aren?t welded, which we will swap with any customer with a welded one at our expense.

We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary change might cause our customers wishing to swap trigger group components in their Scorpion, and we?re urging the factory to have the new trigger groups available as soon as possible. The positive side of this is that Scorpion pistols and carbines with new 2016 features will start showing up in distribution channels much sooner than we were expecting, had we decided to wait for the new molds to be complete. At the moment, the first set of Carbines is waiting on one part to come back from finishing and they will ship out.

As always, if you have any questions regarding the Scorpion or any CZ-USA product please contact us at info@cz-usa.com or 1-800-955-4486.

Thank you,

CZ-USA
