CZ P-07... How realistic for IWB concealed carry?
« on: March 20, 2016, 12:57:38 AM »
I will soon be buying another handgun.  I currently have a CZ-75B and a PT-111 G2.  I'm going to sell the PT-111 G2 to my father-in-law in the near future, he really likes it and while I like most of it I can't stand the trigger.

I have about $370 saved up for my next gun, and with my birthday coming up my wife said she'd cover the difference for my gun purchase as long as it is a reasonable amount.  My current thought process is that I will buy the CZ P-07 now, then when I sell the PT-111 I will pick up a S&W Shield for when the P-07 might be too big, and in doing so cover the major bases (full size, midsize/compact, subcompact).  On the other hand, I may just use the money from selling the PT-111 for accessories/work on my 75B and whatever the other gun I end up buying is.

So, background out of the way, I'm wondering about everyone's experiences carrying a P-07 IWB.  I've read that the P-07 is very easy to conceal, given its similar size to a Glock 19, but then I've also read people here and elsewhere say that the P-07 was just too big for them to realistically conceal.  I find my PT-111 to be incredibly easy to conceal, from what little I've tried.  I don't have my CCL yet but have an Aliengear Cloak Tuck for the PT-111 and have worn it around the house on several occasions and it has been very comfortable.

I've also thought about a Ruger SR9C and Bersa Thunder Pro UC for the slot I'm leaning P-07 for, so I'm not dead set on a P-07.

I've cc'ed both. That's a first gen P07 under the PT111 G2. With a proper holster you should be able to no problem. I'm 5' 8" and 160 and it's comfortable. The Taurus is hard to beat for conceal ability but for just a little bit bigger dimensions in all directions you get a much better trigger and higher capacity. Handle them side by side at your local gun store if possible.

Any gun is difficult to conceal if all you wear is a swimsuit.

Dress appropriately, and you can conceal anything from a mouse gun to a full size 1911 longslide.

I routinely conceal a Sig 2022, occasionally a P226, and often a Ruger LCP. In the past, I've carried a 1911, a 225, and a BHP. I fully intend to carry my new Glock 19 concealed.

It all depends on what I'm wearing, and where I'm going.

A P-07 isn't even a challenge.

I guess it really depends on your size and how you carry it. The P07 and G19 are similar in size, but the beavertail on the P07 make it a little uncomfortable sometimes and gives it the appearance of being larger (though all other dimensions are very similar, size wise).

I'm just under 6'3" and right at 230lbs, I carry a P07 IWB both appendix and in the 3:00-4:30 range depending on what I'm wearing and time of year. I find it comfortable and easy to conceal. To ME, the P07 is small, however it may not be to you. It's my EDC.

5'7", 208# here, and I conceal mine IWB at the 4 o'clock position every day, wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Thanks for the comparison picture!  Helps alot and makes me think I should be fine.  Still will probably end up buying the Shield too as a smaller option.  I'm 6'5 280 with broad shoulders, and a bit of a gut and love handles, so concealment likely will come easier than most.

BigBL87: I carry P-07 every day now in a FALCO IWB holster, sitting, standing, walking, driving. Easy.

If you are still considering the Bersa Pro UC9, consider no longer--buy that wonderful easy to carry smooth trigger Bersa. It has the best out-of-box SA pull and short reset of any DA/SA out there.

I've heard good and bad about them, but like the similar manual of arms to the CZ.  The price difference between it and the P07 is minimal, and mags run similar prices it seems too.

I carry the P-09 concealed, and like Grendel said, it's all about the gear. I also look REALLY stupid in a Speedo, so I don't have that concealment issue. ;)
Top quality holster and belt makes 90% of it, and the rest is up to just how fashionable do you have to be?

I carry my P07 duty aiwb. I started carrying a ruger sr9c and would recommend them as a great carry gun as well. But I love the P07 and its just as easy for me to conceal. Im 5'10" 180lbs for what its worth, but I'd think most people could not only conceal either of those guns, but also do so comfortably with the right holster and clothing.

My P07 is my EDC. I use a Alien gear Cloak Tuck 3.0, with no issues.

Allow me to add a little bit more info that I should have put on my original response. My job involves sitting the majority of the day, and doing a lot of daily driving. I've no discomfort with my P-07, which goes back to what has been stated before about proper gear selection for carrying.

It's just my personal preference, but holsters that are of a bare minimum design work best for me, as those with extra material on the sides proved to be very uncomfortable after hours of sitting, buckled in.

On the job:

Other, normal stuff:

Current style of holster I use:

Nylon belt?
if it works for you, then fantastic. For a bit more material maybe one of the High Noon Kydex or hybrid designs might help. :)

I like the look of that holster.  Both I've bought have been hybrid style, so that's all I know.

My main concern is sitting, standing and walking I don't foresee much issue.  Other issue I could see is reaching above my head, which is not so much a holster issue as it is a wardrobe issue.  At my height, even wearing "tall" shirts, still takes some doing not to reveal the belt line.  Momentary printing or visibility is not a crime or major issue per Illinois law, but still something I'd rather avoid.

If I feel comfortable concealing a P-07, I probably won't end up buying a shield.  I really want to get extra mags for whatever I buy as well as getting some nice wood grips for my CZ, and holsters for both.  Probably would be a better investment of my profit from my PT-111 sale.
