Reduced main, recoil and pin springs - problems?
« on: March 20, 2016, 02:17:49 PM »
Hi all,

 New forum user here!

I am planning on changing the main (hammer) spring on my shadow to a 13lbs spring and also the firing pin spring that  comes in the kit.

Also looking to put in a steel guide rod and a 11lbs recoil spring.

Has anyone used that setup with the standard magtech 124gr 9mm rounds?

 Any issues or expected  issues?

Thanks in advance.

This is the exact set up I have in my CZ75B and my SP01, of course I have the reduced power FPB spring also. I have not had any issue with any ammo between 115gr-135gr. I carry 124 gold dot in my carry gun, totally reliable for me.

Thanks for the quick reply.. I realised I made a typo and said 13lbs recoil... I meant 11lbs.   I will pick up the parts tomorrow  and have to wait until Tuesday to try them at the range.

It will still run like a champ with the 11lb Spring. That is a common setup also.

My shadow orange has a 11lbs recoil spring also. Runs great. CZ recommends a buffer.

Had an hour at the range and tbe lighter trigger is something I need to get used to.  It's currently at 1.6kgs    or a bit over 3lbs.  No issues with geco or magtech rounds.

Looking at my SP-01 Shadow set-up now and very interested in any issues people have run into with lighter springs.  Saw some people reported problems in 2009, but nobody is talking about this any more.  Wanted to re-ping this thread to see if there are any updates?

Thanks ... Adam

I have not had any issues with a 13 lb recoil spring matched with a 13 lb mainspring. Keep in mind you have to change the firing pin spring to a reduced weight spring and change the firing pin to an extended one. On my 75B & SP01 they are 100% reliable.
