I looked at the 938 as well, but I had the same reservations about sigs latest qc issues. Ultimately ended up with a G43 and a Shield.

Really sorry to hear about your troubles with the P938. At this point, I would ask Sig for a replacement firearm...

I'm getting rid of my PT111 G2 to fund my purchase, and because I hate the trigger on it.  The mile long takeup just doesn't work for me, so a PT709 isn't really an option.

Aaawww! Too bad!  I really love mine, but I do know that the older PT111's had way better triggers, which is why I'm keeping mine. I easily qualified for my CCP with it.

Size Comparison of Taurus PT111 to Taurus PT709. Both in 9mm
That said, I would recommend the Walther PPS M2, if you can afford one.  Guns & Ammo did an extensive test of many sub-compact 9mm single stacks and you can read about it here.

FIVE years later., what was your decision?...since the OP's original posting, the marketplace for 9mm's has exploded with the micro-9's, single stacks, double stacks and who knows what else is coming.  As for me, I have since added Springfield's XD-Mod 2 Sub compacts in 40S&W and 45ACP, Taurus G3C, S&W 469, S&W Shield's in 40 and 45, Kahr PM9, K9 Elite '98 and CW45, plus a few more that don't come to mind.

I wanted a metal framed, subcompact 9mm and opted for the Kahr K9, a terrific gun but a single stack.  I then got the Taurus G3C mainly for its higher capacity, again a terrific gun.  No regrets on either, both are in the carry rotation.

BTW, I will say that my S&W Shields in any caliber are totally reliable.  I don't think I ever experienced a failure to feed, fire and eject in any one.  Love my Shields.

I would love to revisit this topic as well.

My hands are rather small so I appreciated being able to use the thin brass grips on my SPO1 Shadow, but I am looking for something that really fits better. I'm looking for a grip not much larger than that of a 1911 that is ideally double stacked.

Any ideas?

My Kahr K9 has a slim grip, feels great in my hand but it's a single stack. I don't own a Sig P365 but I have fired my neighbor's and I found the grip rather small.  I did not like the feel of that gun so it might be what you are looking for, small grip and a double stack.

More ammo in a gun is "better" than less but you have to be realistic about capacity.  Actually using a gun for self defense is close to zero plus there are countless studies that indicate an actual shootout is typically three rounds.  Of course, if you are a LEO, then you will want as much capacity as practical to carry.  I once met a LEO at a LGS that had a 20 round mag in his 9mm plus four magazines hanging on his vest.  I asked him why so much ammo and he said he had been 'in this game a long time' and felt the need for carrying 50 pounds of lead. Oh, OK...

Though I recently bought a P365 to carry (but havent put a few hundred rounds thru it yet), my carry rotation is a Kahr PM9, and a Kahr P380 depending on what I am wearing. I dont dress for what I carry, its the other way around. And I carry the smaller mags in the gun, then the extended ones in a pocket. That way there is absolutely no printing even in shorts and a T shirt. I figure either gun with 7 rounds in it and an extra mag should be enough.

In the past I have also felt comfortable with a a Smith Shield and a Walther PPS M2. I actually wore the P365 around the house today and I think it will work out just fine. I just dont like carrying anything bigger unless its winter and I can carry OWB.

I also have PM9, one sweet gun, that quickly led me into a CW45 and the K9 Elite '98.  What I carry depends somewhat on the vehicle I'm driving when I'm out and about and not so much about capacity.  There are limits when I'm in my Corvette, just no wiggle room so a smaller gun is a big deal as compared to another vehicle.  In terms of clothing, I generally wear a vest over a shirt or sweatshirt so my OWB holsters are generally completely covered by the vest.  As far as printing goes, I really don't care as much as I used to if a bulge is noticeable.
