I posted about the BREN 805 coming in on a large internet forum and the AR-15 fans came out SWINGING as if I had walked into church and peed on the altar. Yikes...

arfcom is a bell curve.

There are some very nice, considerate knowledgeable people at the end of the curve.  The middle is made up of a mixture of nice or not so nice semi-experienced people and the beginning of the curve is the not very nice people who know very little.

All you have to do is take a look at the general topics sub forum to see the zoo.

Usually the moderators will not allow BS/smart assing around in the technical sub forums.

I joined when I started messing around with AR15's.  These days I find very few interesting threads in the AR15 sub forum as a lot of it is the same/similar questions asked over and over.

There isn't much in the handgun sub forum about CZ's but there are some very hard core CZ folks there trying to change that.  As with many forums, the glockers are ready to jump in and giver their opinions on Glocks even when the OP was asking about CZs.

There's some good reloading discussions in the Armory sub forum at times.

I think a lot of the arfcom seniors realize a fairly large part of the arfcom membership is made up of "younger guys who live in the basement of their mom/dad's house that don't have a girl friend".  And sometimes they'll call those types on their posts.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

   Mr. A, I only post here and one other. I was looking thru a couple others and I stumbled upon one you wrote about the Bren, and I was amazed at how they pounced.
    Some guys just don't like new info.
    I for one, really appreciate the atmosphere we have here compared to other forums.

That's what we strive for! :) And no to the other posters, that wasn't Arf dot com, it was a different forum. I do post in AR15.com in the CZ pistol section, but there is no section at that site where the BREN would fit in, and would only start a flame war which I have no time for. :D

Anybody here own an 805 pistol yet??
What do you think about it?
I held one last week and it took everything I had not plunking $$money$$ down on the purchase.
I did see a brand new one for $1325.00 shipped to my FFL.
That's about $200.00 better than everyone else.

What are your collective thoughts, gentlemen..?

Generally, folks who choose least common denominator firearms are a different breed from the enthusiasts and collectors that gravitate to less common weapon systems...

My LGS had a Bren on the rack one day and the guys were all buzzing about it. I'd never heard of it before. In particular they kept saying how similar it was to the SCAR for so much less. That went into the back of my head, but didn't cause me to suddenly want one. A few months (and a move to another state) later, some article on-line mentioned it. So I started reading reviews and watching YouTube videos. It sounded nice. I liked my Scorpion, so I ordered on on GunBroker. And eFiled a form 1 the day I got it. The eForm 1 came back approved this past Thursday and I had it to the laser engraver Friday morning. So now I'm just waiting on a 922r compliance kit and stock.

I'll never understand why anyone would hate any firearm, even if it is a firearm they dislike or find useless.  It is still a gun and every gun produced and in the hands of a law-abiding citizen is another win for gun owners everywhere.

plus more variety and competition in the marketplace leads to more development, progress, and innovation. 8)
