Late Cz50
« on: May 08, 2016, 06:35:10 PM »
I ran across a Cz50 with a '69 date and a serial number of C91XXX.  Odd thing is, it has Cz70 grips.  Is it possible they were put on at the factory during a change over to the 70?

Interesting.  Please post pictures.  I would not be surprised if that occurred but there is really no way, that I can think of, to verify this.

I wondered who got that one. I had it in my watch list but didn't bid as I already have a representative CZ 50. Mine's very unreliable, though, at least with Winchester 71 gr. truncated cone stuff. All my other old .32s eat it no problem. I suspect mags.

I already had a few '50's.  Some without import marks.  But I'd never seen one with that late a date.  Just had to add it to my collection.  ;)

I see you have a Little Tom.  I have one also, S/N just over 1000.  Real rare piece.  I also have a few other rare items I didn't list including a Slavia, Grand revolver, Praga, and M1922.

Have you tried S&B 7.65Br ammo? My CZ50 didn't really like American Eagle, but was fine with S&B. After that range trip, I was looking at the cases and the rim and extractor groove shape is different between US and European ammo.

I know this post is a little old, but felt this was worth adding.

I have a 1970 vz 50 serial # D6 6XXX. Its in very good condition, with matching S/Ns on the frame, barrel, and slide. It has all of the model 70 upgrades (hammer, etc.), with the vz 50 slide markings. It came with what I believe are aftermarket grips (large blank circle).

I figured it would be reasonable to assume they incorporated several changes into production, and then deceided to change the grips, and slide markings, giving them a "new" model to sell.

I've never had any problems with mine, but all I've ran is brass cased, ball ammo.

Win white box flat noses are notorious for feeding problems in foreign made 7.65's.
